Event Description

Chasing 3 Race Productions is honored to announce the 18th annual Desert Classic Duathlon! McDowell Mountain Regional Park will once again play host to this prestigious event that has attracted professional athletes such as IronMan 70.3 world champions Samantha McGlone & Joanna Zeiger, Olympic Triathlon Gold Medalist Simon Whitfield, Olympic Cycling Gold Medalist Kristin Armstrong & Xterra world champion Michael Tobin.

Course Description

The venue, transition and parking will all be located at the competitive track parking lot at McDowell Mountain Regional Park.

ROAD:  3.5 Mile Run •  24 Mile Bike  •  3.5 Mile Run

MTB:  3.5 Mile Run •  24 Mile Bike  •  3.5 Mile Run


Run 1:

The start will be on-road and transition to the trail.  Fast, Fun and Scenic!


Bike - ROAD

Road course is currently being re-worked - more later ...

Bike - MTB

15-mile existing and challenging loop.

Run 2:

Second verse same as the first!


Aid Stations

There will be water, Hammer drink, Hammer gels, pretzels, cinnamon bears and sponges at 1.5 miles and at 3.0 miles coming into the Transition Area.

Please note, be throw cups and gel packs in the prescribed Feed Zones.  Please do not abandon waste along the runs or the bike courses.  USAT rules will apply.  We are welcome to use the park for the event at the discretion of the Maricopa County Parks and we would like to return the favor by returning the area to them the same way we found it.


  • Overall 1st through 3rd Male and Female winners
  • Age Group finishers 1st through 3rd in 5-year age increments
  • Youth 10-14 and 15-17
  • Overall 2 Person Team 1st through 3rd
  • Overall 3 Person Team 1st through 3rd.
