Run and Ride - Carowinds

Event Date

Sat, Oct 4, 2014

Fort Mill, SC

About This Activity

It’s time to turn the thrill of the ride into the thrill of the run.  Carowinds is excited to present the first annual Run and Ride series, which will have your thighs and lungs screaming during one of the three running events through the park and then your mouth screaming as you take to some of the best coasters in the country. With a half-marathon, 5k, and 1-mile fun run to choose from, there is something for everyone to try. A half-marathon registration includes free park entry for the runner that can be used on the Run and Ride weekend.  Discounted park entry is included with all other distances.  So get your training shoes on, hit the pavement, and get ready for a weekend of fun running at Carowinds.

Event details and schedule

Sunday, October 5th, 2014 7:30am
This two-loop course will have you winding in and out of the park, passing through the underbelly of coasters, running back in time through Dinosaurs Alive, waving to Snoopy and his friends, and seeing some of the behind-the-scenes action of this fabulous amusement park. Funnel cakes will have to wait until you have completed this 13.1-mile gem. The course is completely closed and contained wholly within Carowinds amusement park and surrounding property. With two laps around the course, make sure to watch out for all the interesting stuff you missed the first time around, including all your family and friends cheering you along. With BibChip timing we will be looking to see who can set the course record for this first-year event. Half-marathon participants enjoy free entry to the park all weekend.

Saturday, October 4th, 2014 6:20 pm
There is nothing scary about a 5K...unless it is through Carowinds amusement park during SCarowinds. But don’t be afraid because because this 5K is no ordinary 5K--it is a SCarowinds Glow Run. You can light your way around this fun course through one of the best amusement parks in the South with your trusty glow necklace and other glittery attire. So put on your bling and glow on because it is a time to get together with family and friends and do a fun and exciting run or walk. We provide the music, amazing finish line with smoke and lasers, a great running course, and fun post-race entertainment. 1-mile runners take a shorter route but still enjoy all the sights and sounds of the park. The 5K and 1 mile are untimed. Make sure you arrive early to take part in our pre-race contest where we will be giving away prizes for most glow and most bling.
