About This Activity

World Cancer Day 5K : Race To End Cancer

This race is is a fun-filled run and walk marking World Cancer Day 2017.

Runners, walkers, teams and individuals are all invited to join in what we hope will be our largest event yet in beautiful Downtown Fort Lauderdale, with a route that takes participants over the New River, through the pretty Rio Vista neighborhood, and back again to their starting point where we will host our trademark finish line celebrations!

This is a pleasant, winding USATF-sanctioned route for all standards and abilities of runner and walker.

If you'd like to form a team to participate, it's very simple. Grab your co-workers and form a company team, or your family and friends to form a memorial team in celebration of a loved one lost to cancer. Cancer-related charities are also invited to participate in the team race.

February is a wonderful month for running in Florida, why not sign up and make a difference TODAY!

The course is basically flat although you will cross SE 3rd Avenue bridge twice and so this will be the major "hill" on the course. The course includes both the Downtown and City route, residential neighborhoods and beautiful riverside finish.

Parking is available both on surrounding streets and in parking lots opposite the Park, and across Andrews Avenue.

Please make sure to wear sunscreen (this is Florida, after all) and to hydrate well before the start of the race. We will have water stations every mile, please make sure to take your water on board!

Wear light, breathable clothing and if you are particularly susceptible to the heat a hat is also advised.

Packet Pick Up will be Thursday 2nd and Friday 3rd February, location to be confirmed by September 20th.

HAVE FUN! This is a celebration of life and a race to end cancer and it marks World Cancer Day.
