About This Activity

Event Description:

This is the 3rd Annual Dirty Bird Mud Run that is held on Fort Hood at the ATV Park, Area 111 from 0900-1300. This event is designed to test the participant’s endurance, strength, and internal fortitude while navigating the unimproved terrain and various obstacles throughout the 1 mile and 5K course. The proceeds from this event are donated to the Soldiers of the 720th Military Police Battalion to offset and reduce the cost for Soldiers to attend the annual 89th Military Police Brigade Ball.

There are 4 categories to compete in: Individual, 4-Person team, family team, and introducing the Platoon wave. Participants can choose between competitive and non-competitive races. Each category will have separate launch times, while the top 3 finishers, based on their completion time will receive an award. The Family event is designated for those who would like to compete in the event with their family members.

The first wave will be the Family event and is scheduled launch at 0900. It will be followed by subsequent waves that are separated based on the number of participants who sign up in each category. The final wave will launch no later than 1200, allowing time for all registered participants to compete, or at least complete the course. (*NOTE: If you want to compete with your family and in another category, you must register for both categories and ensure you choose another wave that allows time to complete your family run.)

Event details and schedule

If you're driving a vehicle without a DoD vehicle registration sticker, you'll need to enter Fort Hood through the Bernie Beck Gate. This vehicle registration is at the MARVIN LEATH VISITORS CENTER, adjacent to the main gate. ALL non-DOD cardholders must register before entering the base.

It is highly encouraged to wear comfortable clothes to navigate the uneven terrain. Be aware that July is one of the hottest months in Texas. The Fort Hood Fire Department will be staged at the finish line to hose off participants and changing tents will be available.
