About This Activity

The USO 10-miler is presented by!

This will be the third annual USO 10 Miler event, and it has a new 5K option! We're moving the start/finish to a new course that begins at the brand new gym in the 159th CAB footprint on Thunder Road, near Gate 10. The gym is located at 7979 Thunder Blvd, but it is new construction so please watch for signs instead of relying only on a GPS.

Unfortunately, there are no refunds if you are unable to run the race. We will work with you to switch names for the registration, though.

There will be race day registration, but only from 7:00 am to 8:30 am.

Shirts ordered after 18 FEB will have to be picked up in April.

The 1-miler and 5K courses are both roadway. The 10-miler is a combination of roadway and paved trail. ALL COURSES ARE STROLLER AND RECUMBANT BIKE FRIENDLY. There is a short distance (10 feet or so) that is gravel on both the 5K and 10 Miler course (just before Mile 3). Also, the 10 Miler has an additional gravel patch just before Mile 4. You can get through, but we want you to be prepared and manage expectations.

The courses can be found at the USO Fort Campbell Facebook page:

Anyone that does not hold a Department of Defense ID card will have specific instructions to follow for access onto Fort Campbell. This will be updated closer to race day, and will be emailed out with packet pickup information.  PLEASE NOTE: ALL CARS ON FORT CAMPBELL MUST HAVE DOCUMENTATION OF CURRENT REGISTRATION AND INSURANCE!

Times may be used for Soldiers being considered for the Fort Campbell team to compete in the Army Ten Miler in Washington, D.C., on October 12, 2014.

·         The roads for the course are closed to vehicle traffic.

·         Regardless of whether there is MP protection on an intersection, runners must be aware of traffic at intersections.  For maximum protection, reflective belts are encouraged, while earphones are discouraged.

·         Wheelchairs, recumbent bikes, hand cycles, and strollers are allowed.

·         Dogs are not allowed on the course.

·         There will be multiple water stations on the courses, located at miles 1, 2.5, 5, and 7.5. There is also a port-o-potty at Mile 6.5.

·         In case of emergency:

o   There are two volunteers at every mile marker with cell phones to call 911 at any runner’s request.

o   There are biking volunteers along the entire course that will call 911 at any runner’s request.

o   There are MPs at the larger intersections that can assist with any emergency situation.

The USO Ten Miler will be held, rain or shine.  In the event of severe weather, we will take direction from Fort Campbell and will communicate as efficiently and effectively as possible with runners.

It is important to note that Fort Campbell can be VERY windy, even if there appears to be very little wind in the more densely populated areas nearby.  Also, the course varies between wide open and heavily wooded areas, so the temperature and wind may vary noticeably throughout the race.
