Competitors will face a preset barbell with the bar lying horizontally in front of the lifter’s feet, gripped with an optional grip in both hands and lifted until the lifter is standing erect. Once the attempt has begun no downward movement is allowed until the lifter reaches the erect position with the knees locked. On completion of the lift the knees shall be locked in a straight position with shoulders back.
The Kawamura staff signal shall consist of a downward movement of the arm and the audible command “Down”. The signal will not be given until the bar is held motionless and the lifter is in the apparent finished position.
Lifters will have 15 minutes to attempt as many successful lifts before reaching max lift. Once 15 minutes is expired or an attempt is failed, the last completed lift is recorded in the combined team score.
Combined max weight total will be factored into team’s overall score.
Causes for Disqualification of a Deadlift
Any downward movement of the bar before it reaches the final position.
Failure to stand erect with the shoulders back.
Failure to lock the knees straight at the completion of the lift.
Supporting the bar on the thighs during the performance of the lift. If the bar edges up the thigh but is not supported this is not reason for disqualification.
Stepping backward or forward or moving the feet laterally. Rocking of the feet between ball and heel is permitted. Foot movement after the command “Down” will not be cause for failure.
Lowering the bar before receiving the signal.
Allowing the bar to return to the platform without maintaining control with both hands (i.e., releasing the bar from the palms of the hand).
Each competitor must complete as many reps as possible of strict pullups in 60 seconds.
Team’s combined rep total will be factored into overall score.
Competitors can use optional grip on straight bar.
Time will begin when competitor’s hands make contact with the bar. Time stops as soon as competitor’s hands are removed from the bar or 60 seconds has expired.
Causes for “No-Rep” for Pull Up Event
Failure to lock elbows at bottom of rep.
Failure to clear chin over the bar.
Kicking or swinging of the legs.
Team must complete as many wall ball reps as possible in 2 minutes. Competitor starts in a standing position facing 10’ target, slightly in front of medicine ball #1 positioned on the ground, holding medicine ball #2 with both hands at chin level. Competitor will squat down until their gluteus touches ball #1 and explode up to standing position throwing ball #2 at target in front of them.
Combined total repetitions will be recorded for overall score.
Females required weight 14lbs VTX Medicine Ball and males required weight 20lbs VTX Medicine Ball.
Causes for “No-Rep” for Wall Ball Event
Ball fails to reach target.
Competitor fails to catch ball.
Failure to make contact with ground ball.
Throwing or catching with single hand.
Failure of body fully extending at top of movement.
Competitor’s feet leave the ground.
Team must complete as many box jumps as possible in 2 minutes. Time will begin as soon as competitor’s feet leave the floor. Both feet must land fully on the box. Hips must come to full extension with knees locked out at the top of the box. Competitors may step down or jump down off box.
Total repetitions will be recorded for overall score.
