About This Activity

Become a part of one of Wisconsin's biggest winter festivals- The Sturgeon Stampede weekend in Fond du Lac February 12-15. This year a new and unique event, Spear the Fatty Bike Fat Tire Bike Race. Race will be a big challenge for those feisty fat tire cyclists. It is a once-a-year chance to ride your fat tire bike on the groomed trails on Lake Winnebago.

3 events to choose from:

15 and 30 mile event starts at 10 a.m.

7 mile event starts at Noon.

Mountain Bikes with at least a 2.1 tire inch can also be used on this course.

Registration/Packet Pick-up

FRI., FEB. 13  5-7 p.m.   o r    SAT., FEB. 14   8-10 a.m.
All riders must have Bib placed outside of clothing on your back.

Awards and Amenities

Each rider will receive a rooster winter cap, food and medal.  Awards will be given to the top 1-3 females and 1-5 males.

Post Event Party

Stick around for food, music, bonfire and awards at the Main tent. Around 3 p.m. the Big Air Competition begins which you may want to join in after your fat tire extravaganza.

Family and Friends while they wait may participate a winter Kite Flying experience.  Kites will be given free to the first 100 attendees.

The Course

The bike course will be on the Lake on roads leading to Oshkosh and back. The 30 mile bike course will be a two loop course. There will be aid stations along the course.  Start and finish will be at Roosevelt Park.

 The 26th Annual Sturgeon Stampede, the regional Sturgeon Spearing Festival is February 12- 15.The Sturgeon Stampede has been entertaining winter lake enthusiasts of over two decades by clearing off a huge radius of snow to make a winter playland. It offers skating, broomball, ice bowling, ice sailing, sturg-o-rama and kite flying. The southern tip of Lake Winnebago, where these activities are held along will look like a populated city with over 10,000 ice fisherman, wind kiters and sailors, snowmobilers and whoever comes out to embrace the day.
