This trail run through the Red Desert offers expansive views of the Boar’s Tusk, North and South Table Mountains, the Killpecker Sand Dunes, Steamboat Mountain, and the Wind River Mountains. Runners will enjoy wide open spaces while traversing this wild landscape.
In 2016, there will be a 14 mile "half marathon" as well as a 27 mile "marathon" length course. Visit https://wyomingoutdoorcouncil.org/runthered/ for details about this year's NEW ROUTES!!! The Red Desert contains countless opportunities for enjoying wild spaces, including significant Wilderness Study Areas and other wilderness quality lands. The 2014 inaugural race celebrated the 50th anniversary of the Wilderness Act of 1964 and the 30th anniversary of the Wyoming Wilderness Act. This race continues to celebrate our wild Wyoming places. The Wyoming Outdoor Council, Wyoming Wilderness Association, the National Outdoor Leadership School and other partners and sponsors invite runners and their families to experience this unique landscape whether running the race, hiking near to the course or simpy viewing the Boar’s Tusk.

Vehicular traffic, wildlife, and domestic animals may be present on the race course. Aid stations will be available with food and water at appropriate locations, however, it is highly recommended each participant supply themselves with the gear, food, and water necessary to complete the run. Weather conditions this time of year can be highly variable, with temperatures ranging from below freezing to mid-90s. Participants are encouraged to outfit themselves with the clothing and gear necessary to stay comfortable in changing conditions.
REFUND POLICY: If we are unable to hold the event due to weather, we will reschedule or provide free entry into next year's event. If you have any questions, please email firstname.lastname@example.org. We will send an email alerting participants to any changes by Friday June 3rd at noon.
MOTOTRIZED VEHICLES ON COURSE: We discourage motorized vehicles on course, but there may be extenuating circumstances that require motorized vehicles, such as emergencies or aid station resupply.
DOGS ON COURSE: Dogs must be on leash at the start/finish area. Dogs are not required to be on leash on the course, but must be under control by verbal command. Please be courteous to other racers as well as the sensitive landscape and wildlife.
IMPORTANT NOTE: This race course is available through contractual agreements with private landowners and public land agencies; participants who utilize this course on days other than race day without permission from landowners may be liable for trespass.
