About This Activity
On August 7, 2006, Jarren Wayne McTee was born to Jenger and Jason McTee. Following a traumatic delivery, Jarren was not breathing and had been deprived of oxygen. He is a happy little boy who is fighting to overcome many obstacles. He has been diagnosed with hypoxic ischemic encephalopathy (HIE). HIE is defined as damage to the cells of the central nervous system from inadequate oxygen. Jarren is now 7 years old and is working hard to develop the muscle control to hold his head up, sit up on his own and learn to talk. Jarren is now in 1st grade at Tatum Elementary and is using his Dynavox (motion activated communication device) to read, take spelling and math tests, and communicate. He is currently undergoing physical, occupational, speech and HIPPO therapy. HIPPO therapy is therapeutic horseback riding which is strengthening his upper body. Jarren also loves playing on his "Angels" baseball team and he recently ran the bases for the first time in his walker! He is also showing much improvement riding his tricycle! Anything you can do to help with Jarren’s medical and equipment needs will be greatly appreciated.
