Join us at Angel Mounds on October 22nd for the 2nd annual Spirit Crusher Survival Race. Starting at 7:00 am on Saturday morning we'll sound the race bell and 100 runners will begin their journey towards greatness. Each runner will have exactly one hour to complete the 4.25 mile trail run. Then at 8:00 am, we will do it again! Then at 9:00 am we will do it again....
The catch is, you must complete each lap in one hour or less to be eligible to start the next round. We will race until there is one runner left. It may take 10 hours, it may take 35 hours; the race is not over until only one runner remains.
After 24 hours, (starting at 7:00 am on Sunday) we will subtract 5 minutes from each lap's completion time on odd hour laps. 7:00 am on Sunday runner's will have to finish their lap in under 55 minutes, 9:00 am lap on Sunday will require a sub 50 minute lap and so on.
This is a trail run and in typical trail run fashion, the race is mostly self-supported. We will have water available at race control. Each runner will have space for your support team to set-up. The trails will remain open to the public but will be marked for the race. As night approaches runners will be required to provide lights for safe passage. Trail direction arrows will have flashing LED lights attached to them.
The race is limited to 100 runners only. Entry fee is $60 per participant. What does that get you? -Entry to the race -Custom race bib -Custom race shirt for you -Custom race shirt for your support crew captain -Water -Porta-johns -The thrill of a lifetime -On site support team space
Did we mention there’s a cash prize purse? The prize purse is based on the number of entries. $10 out of each entry goes to the purse. 1st place pays 50%, 2nd place pays 35%, and 3rd place pays 15%. We fully expect the race to sell out quickly. Based on a sold out race- the winner will receive $500, 2nd place $350, 3rd place $150.
This race is not to be taken lightly! It is a survival race. The race director has the right to pull any runner from the event or not allow them to start the next lap if they show signs of medical issue(s). In the event that two runners start the last lap but neither complete it within the time window, the runner that finished the previous lap first will be crowned “THE SPIRIT CRUSHER!"
