My step daughter was diagnosed with Epilepsy at the age of 13. Year over year the Epilepsy has gotten worse and she is now 17 years old. In 2015 she had over 100 seizures and hospitalized 5 times. Doctors surgically implanted a Venus Nerve Stimulator (VNS) in her left chest to help manage the seizures. The school system approved for her to be hospital home bound where teachers come to the house to assist her with school work. In October while at the hospital her mother and I were talking to doctors about the lack of Epilepsy awareness in the Augusta area and we decided to put this 5K run/walk together to not only raise money for the Epilepsy Foundation but to raise awareness for Epilepsy and to be the voice for those dealing with Epilepsy.
