About This Activity

This event is a major fundraiser for our organization and will go a long way in helping local Veterans.  Last year we raised approximately $3019.90 thanks to our sponsors and those that participated in the race.  We donated $5088.71 to local veterans from the our 5K fund and two other fundraisers we held throughout the year.  Veterans we helped in 2015 include:

$650 for a wheel chair ramp to an Erie Native and Air Force Veteran “John D”.

$400 for medical bills to a Korean War Navy Veteran from Corry, PA “Bill B”.

$200 to the Corporal Matthew Hanes Scholarship Fund.

$514.51 to “Charles S” for food, household items and bus passes to get back and forth to work.

$540 to “Charles S” for child’s headstone.  Their infant passed away from SIDS and they couldn’t afford one.

$249.02 for flash drives that were donated to the Liberty House, a homeless shelter for Veterans.  The flash drives allow these Veterans to build a resume and cover letter that they can save on the drive to take with them when they get back on their feet.

$100 to USMC Veteran “Cory H” who served in Iraq and needed help with a bill.

$54.21 donation of dog food to the T and S Second Chance Home Shelter (some animals are Vets too J)

$2,380.97 to Army Veteran “Brandon L”, Iraq and Afghanistan Veteran that needed assistance with getting back on his feet after being medically separated from Active Duty service.

The Warrior Brotherhood is a national 501c3 non-profit organization comprised entirely of Veterans from all over the country.  Our mission statement is simple, “Vets Helping Vets.”  Our local projects have ranged from providing food to veterans who are down on their luck, funeral escort details, facilitating installation of handicap ramps, and everything in between.  In these trying economic times, our mission becomes even more critical and difficult.

Event details and schedule

Race day is 25 June 2016.  Registration and packet pickup will begin at 7:30am.  At 8:45am we will have pre-race announcements and the race itself will kick off at 9:00am.  This is a rain or shine event.  The route that we run is the Beach One course which is a straight out and back.  The race is a chip timed event which is done by Runners High.  Water, Gatorade and snacks provided.  Medals awarded to 1st, 2nd and 3rd place runners in each age category.  Last year was a fun time even though there was a monsoon.  Over 70 runners particpated and had a fun time.  Thank you for your continued support!!
