About This Activity
The 3rd Annual Emerald Isle Marathon, Half Marathon & 5K is set for April 9, 2016. This year's race is aimed at benefiting the Emerald Isle community by continuing to upgrade the area's bike paths which are used by residents and vacationers alike. In addition, we are proud that the 2016 race will also support the National Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, a charity which is very near and dear to our hearts! Event details and schedule
Locals Only: Wednesday April 6, 2016 4:00pm-7:00pm in the Town Board meeting room. All others may pick up on April 8, 2016 3:00pm-9:00pm in the Emerald Isle Gym(adjacent to the rec left)
What time does the race start?
Marathon starts at 6:15am. Half Marathon will begin at 8:15am. The 5K will follow at 8:30am
Will we race in the rain?
Yes, rain or shine, we run! If there is lightning, we will postpone the start time until it hopefully passes.
I can't make it to the race, can I get a refund?
We will not give any refunds.
Are there pace requirements?
Yes, you MUST have a pace of 16 minutes per mile. The course will close 7 hours after the start.
Will there be pacers?
Yes. Marathon: 3:05, 3:30, 4:00, 4:30 and 5:00 hours. They will be carrying signs with these times listed and will be in uniformed shirts.
Where can I park?
There will be volunteers and signs showing you where you can park the morning of the race.
Can I bring my pet?
No, sorry no pets on the race route.
Will the prices increase?
Yes. 1/31/16 the price for each race increases by $10 and on 3/6/16 the half marathon and full marathon increase by an additional $10.
Can I register for the race at packet pick up?
Yes, if it has not sold out. You will not be guaranteed the correct shirt size if you register at that time.
Can I transfer my registration to someone else?
No, we no longer offer this option as it was over used in the previous race.
Can you mail my participant packet to me if I can't make it to the race?
No, sorry. We cannot mail packets.
Can I change to another race distance?
Yes. All changes must be made no later than 7:15am. You may only downsize to a shorter distance. No refunds will be provided.
Who gets medals?
All marathon and half marathon participants will receive a medal at the finish.
Are there caps for each race?
Yes. Marathon: 1,000 Half Marathon: 1,000 5K: 500
Do I get a t-shirt?
Yes, all registrants will receive an official race technical tee.
Will there be water stations along the route?
5K- Mile 1.5. Half Marathon- Miles 3, 6, 9, 11, Gatorade at miles 9 and 11. Marathon-Miles 4, 8, 11, 14, 16, 18, 21, 22, 24 Gatorade at miles 14, 18 and 22 GU and Cliff Protein at miles 8, 16 and 21
Where will the port-a-potties be located:
Marathon- Mile 6, 15, 22. Half Marathon-mile 9
Will there be awards again this year?
Yes, there will be age group awards in all 3 races! Be sure to stick around to find out if you are a winner!
Will there be an after party?
Yes. The after party will start at 4pm at the E Club. Details will be provided as the event gets closer.
Will there be a bag check?
Yes. There will be a tag attached to each bib and items may be checked in at the start/finish line under the tent.
