5K Fun Run/Walk
About This Activity
The Family Resource Center is hosting Puppy Love, a 5K fun run/walk on September 17th, 2016 at Johnny Appleseed Park in Elko. This unique event allows participants to run or walk with their dogs. Registration begins at 6:30 a.m. with the walkers beginning the 5K at 7:30 a.m. and the runners at 8:00 a.m. In addition to raising funds for FRC programming, it promotes physical exercise and socializing with runners, walkers, and dog lovers in a fun community event--all for a good cause. Participation in the 2016 event also provides funds to the Local Animal Shelter Support Organization (LASSO) for spaying and neutering pets available for adoption.
The event is open to all participants, with or without a dog. The registration fee is $30 the day of the race or $20 for pre-registration. The first 175 people to register will receive a free WAG bag with an event shirt, items for their dog, one free raffle ticket, and sponsor marketing merchandise. Children under age 16 may run/walk for free with a registered adult; if children under age 16 would like a WAG bag with an event shirt, they must register.
Free recovery fruit/water is available to all race participants and volunteers. Following the 5K, a finish line celebration will take place with awards for dogs such as Best Costume and Friendliest Pup, music, a raffle, food, and beverages.
