About This Activity

1/24/2017 - REGISTRATION in REOPENED!  Due to the large number of requests, we have reopened registration for our rescheduled race date of February 18, 2017.  We can only take around 100 additional entries, so don't delay.  We do have more shirts/medals/hats/mugs on order to accomodate these additional entries.

1/20/2017 - RACE POSTPONED UNTIL FEBRUARY 18th. This is due to the threat of severe weather during our race window. We apologize for any inconvenience!!

1/8/2017 - The Hound Dog Half has reached capacity as far as race shirts go. We had to have our order in at the beginning of December. We have reopened registration for $55 (we have knocked $20 off the Jan 1st registration rate) and you will still receive a finishers medal, hat and soup mug.  We do plan to have a Ludivine shirt available at the race for purchase - we just cannot get anymore race shirts in time for our event.

Elkmont's Trackless Train Trek Half Marathon  - aptly renamed to Elkmont's Hound Dog Half Marathon after local hound dog, Ludivine steals the show by wandering to the starting line in time to join the runners and finish 7th overall in our inaugural event to raise funds for the track and cross country programs at Elkmont High School.

The link below tells a little of the story from our 1st ever half marathon in Elkmont, AL!

Beautiful, CERTIFIED (USATF #AL15062JD) half marathon through the rolling hills of Elkmont, Alabama.  The course begins in downtown Elkmont and heads out into the country on the rolling rural roads.  About 7-8 miles into the race, runners will move off the road and onto the old L&N Railroad bed and is now known as the Richard Martin Trail and is part of the Rails to Trails Conservancy, where they will run the final 5-6 miles of the half marathon.

There will be a custom finishers medal as well as age group and overall awards.  All participants registered by Jan 1, 2017 are guaranteed t-shirt sized specified on registration.  There will also be a special award for our 7th place finisher in honor of Ludivine's accomplishment.
