About This Activity

Join Fort Bliss Sports for our 4th Annual Armed Forces Day Triathlon. The race takes place on Fort Bliss at the largest Aquatics left in the Army! The race is also part of the Southwest Challenge Series.

Swim: 400 Meters // The race will begin at the Aquatics Training Center with a 400- meter swim. Competitors will swim in a serpentine pattern and enter the water based on their average swim time.

Bike: 15 miles // The entire course is paved. The 15 mile course begins near the Aquatic Training Center on Constitution Ave, proceeds to Far East Bliss via the tank trail. Then back to east bliss via the Torch Bridge and Sergeant  Major Boulevard.

Run: 5K // The run begins at the transition area, through the roudabout in front of Soto Physical Fitness Center, north towards Old Ironsides. The route loops back to the finish line in front of the Aquatics Training Center. The course is on a flat, concrete surface.

Competitive Categories:

Individual Division: Males and females will each have competitive age groups as follows: 19 & under, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70+

Athena Division/Clydesdale Division: The Athena division (females 165 lbs and over) and the Clydesdale division (men 220 lbs and over) will have age groups of 39 & under and 40 and over.

Relay Teams: Relay teams will consist of two or three individuals. Each members of the team will complete at least one of the three events and tag the next member of the team in the transition area. Relay team members may NOT also compete as individuals.

General Rules:

1. USA Triathlon rules aply, except for family-friendly transition areas.

2. All cycling competitors must wear an ANSI/Snell approved helmet.

Start time: 7:00 A.M.

Online registration closes Wednesday, 14 May 14 at 11:59 P.M.

Late registration//Packet Pick Up: Friday, 16 May from 4-7 P.M. at the Aquatics Training Center or Saturday, 17 May from 5:30-6:30 a.m. at the Aquatics Training Center

Late registration: Additional $10 late fee applies

Civilians are welcome on Post and may enter Fort Bliss by showing a U.S. Driver's License or U.S. Government Issued ID at the Global Reach/Old Ironsides gate off the 601.
