About This Activity

What is Fire Stoppers Run & Ride?

     The Fire Stoppers Run & Ride is organized by the Rio Grande Valley Firefighters' and Fire Marshals' Association (RGVFFMA) in partnership with Bike Masters. The event will consist of a 10K run along with a bike ride, which will include three separate routes (100 mile, 65 mile, or 25 mile course).

Our Mission:

     The RGVFFMA is deeply committed to providing crucial fire service training to the firefighters of the Rio Grande Valley. Although, most of our efforts are geared towards keeping firefighters safe and healthy, we are excited to switch gears and help encourage our communities to live a safe and healthy lifestyle.

Bike (bicycle) Ride:  (*Early arrival is HIGHLY recommended*)

            6:30am – Announcements

            7:00am – 100 miler starting time

            7:15am – 65 miler starting time

            7:30am – 25 miler starting time

            11:00am – Post ride celebration

            3:00pm - ***Bike Course Closes***

            8:00am – 10K run starting time

Event Rules:

  • All participants are required to wear their respective color-coded Bib # at all times while on all event routes.
  • Participants should arrive at least 30 minutes prior to their respective event for preparation and announcements.
  • Participants are HIGHLY encouraged to bring their own water bottles.
  • Participants shall observe all applicable traffic laws and event rules throughout the ride.
  • An authorized guardian must accompany participants under the age of 18 at all times during the event (Waiver required for minors).
  • Participants shall wear an approved bicycle helmet at all time during the ride.
  • Participants who show up late for their respective rides will not be allowed on the course (*No exceptions).  No refunds will be given to late riders.
  • Participants are responsible making sure their equipment is in good condition. Although, support staff will be patrolling all routes to help with mechanical trouble and provide transportation back to the starting line if need be. (*Participants shall be prepared to handle their own flat tires and minor problems)
  • All bicycle routes will close at 3:00pm. (*Event support staff will cease after this time)

Rest Stops:

Bike (bicycle) Ride:

  • Rest stops will be located at approximately ten (10) miles apart and will provide water, fruit, and port-o-potties (For registered riders only).
  • First aid stations will be located at the start/finish line, Delta Lake area, and McCook area (Locations will be properly marked).
  • Rest stops will be closed down after the last event rider passes through.

10K Run:

  • Rest stops will be located at approximately one (1) mile intervals and will provide water.
