About This Activity

On Sunday morning, Sept. 28th, the East Windsor Lions Club will hold its 3rd Annual Tour de East Windsor – which will expand this year to a “Walk, Run, Ride For Sight.”

Your participation can help us have a successful event, which would translate to raising significant funds in the cause of saving eyesight here in Connecticut.

Since 1953, the East Windsor Lions Club and East Windsor Lions Charities have supported a variety of sight-related needs throughout the community, such as

Pre-School Vision Screenings         Glaucoma Screenings

Large Print books for E.W. Library     Eye Glasses for Needy People

CT Lions Eye Research Foundation     Lions Gallery for the Sightless

The Tour de East Windsor was begun as a "Bike Ride For Sight" in September 2012 to provide funding for the CT Lions Low Vision Centers, which teach visually impaired persons new ways to utilize their remaining eyesight. They provide the necessary aids and devices that can increase independence and ease activities of daily living.

The first two years of the event has enabled us to raise close to $6,000 for the Low Vision Centers. The ride has grown from 30 riders the first year to 47 riders last year. Our hope is to have a 100% increase in bike riders this year, as well as a significant group of runners and walkers.

Event schedule and times

The 2014 “Tour de East Windsor” is a non-competitive event for bicyclists, runners and walkers to help support the sight-saving work of the Lions Club in East Windsor. All events will take place in the morning on Sunday, Sept. 28th.
