About This Activity

The run is part of our 49th annual Dunedin Highland Games. The Highland Games are a full day of competitions including Bagpipe, drumming, Highland dancing and Scottish Heavy Athletics. There will be music entertainment, craft and food vendors and beer throughout the entire day.

In Dunedin and Highland Games style, this trail run will feel as though you are running through the highlands of Scotland with the sounds of bagpipes echoing throughout the Hammock. It's a run everyone can enjoy from the casual jogger to the competitive trail runner.  A run for the entire family.

The run begins in the field (Highlander Park) and quickly enters Dunedin Hammock Park, affectionately call "The Hammock"; a mixed hardwood forest filled with more than 300 native species of trees, shrubs, ferns and wild flowers.  With the exception of a slight uphill grade at the end of the first mile, followed by approximately 50 yards of Florida's sugar sand, the course is relatively flat. Towards the end of the second mile the course encounters approximately 100 yards of boardwalk where passing may be challenging.  Most all other parts of the run are canopied which brings comfort with Florida's climate.
