About the 6th Annual TDD Triathlon
Described by a number of participants as their favorite triathlon!
The TDD Triathlon is a memorial race for Tyrus, Dante, and Daniel Vescio, triplet sons of local racers, Don and Elaine Vescio.
The race is a fundraiser for the UMass Memorial Newborn Intensive Care Unit in Worcester, MA. Proceeds help other babies get the chance to live long, healthy lives.

The Race Course
The Douglas race venue is absolutely beautiful with a nice beach, picnic area, and grills. Come to race; stay post race to relax and socialize.
The swim, bike, and run courses for this event were planned by experienced triathletes, and are marshaled by some of the most enthusiastic volunteers around.
The swim is a 1/4 mile clockwise rectangle in a placid lake starting and ending at the beach area. Athletes are sent out in groups called swim waves. Life guards will be positioned on the swim course; and swim angels will be in the water, and ready to provide guidance and words of encouragement to people who are nervous about the open water swim.
After the swim, athletes enter transition through the rear entrance of the transition area. The transition area is in the wide field next to the lake.
The bike course is a single loop that meanders the country roads of rustic Douglas. Cyclists leave transition through the front exit of the transition area and ride up Wallum Lake Park Road to the single loop course. There are hills along the way, but we promise there will be 'words of inspiration' on the final climb that you won't want to miss. John from Southbridge Cycles will provide mechanical support on the bike course.
The run course is an out and back route. Runners use the access road to connect with Wallum Lake Park Road near the parking area. At the top of the hill on Wallum Lake Park Road, runners bear left onto Wallum Lake Road. The turnaround is near the top of a hill on Wallum Lake Road. You much RUN AROUND the cone at the turnaround. Then it's back down Wallum Lake Road to Wallum Lake Park Road, onto the access road and under the FIRM finish line banner. There are two aid stations on the run course, with water. Runners pass those aid stations twice. They are located at 0.25 miles, 1. 1 miles on the way out, and at 1.9 miles and 2.75 miles on the way back.
