About This Activity

Thanks for registering for the Turkey Roll Bicycle Rally.  Your registration fees will have a tremendous impact on the youth of Denton, TX.  We support eight (8) Youth Service-Leadership Clubs in Denton, the ELIMINATE World-wide Kiwanis Project, and help provide FREE books to all the children through our Tiny Libraries program.
This is the Denton Breakfast Kiwanis’ 34th Turkey Roll Bicycle Rally and our best ever. Look for more sag wagons and celebrations of a great ride in great company. We’re following the same route as last year, just as well marked (over 150 prominent course markers), with plenty of rest stops (including the NEW Rudy's BBQ stop), delicious snacks (Syracuse sausages at finish), and porta-potties.

NOTE:  ONLY Pre-Registered Riders will participate in Drawings for over $1,000 in cash and prizes.

Riders may choose from among five courses:  8, 29, 39, 52, and 68 miles in length.  See Event Website for Route MAPS.

Registration fees are $25 (prepaid by 9/30/16); $30 (prepaid by 11/11/16); and $35 (after 11/11/16 to Day of Rally).  Online registration closes 11/17/2016 at 9 PM (CST).

Event details and schedule

The ride send-off is Saturday, November 19, 2016, at 9 a.m. from Immaculate Conception Catholic Church (ICCC), 2255 N. Bonnie Brae, in Denton, TX 76207. Denton Breakfast Kiwanis members will be there as early as 7 a.m. to welcome and register riders. The church is at the corner of Bonnie Brae (From 380, travel north. From Loop 288N, travel south) and Windsor. Enter the grounds from Bonnie Brae for registration and parking.

For early packet pick-up, come to the Denton Bicycle Center, 1700 N. Elm, Denton TX 76201 from 9:00 am Monday, November 14, until noon Friday, November 18.  Early packet pick-up continues onsite starting at 5 p.m. at ICCC, where you can also meet with sponsors, visit vendor booths, get goody bags, and exchange high-fives with Kiwanians and Key Club members.
All routes will start on Windsor Drive north of the church, passing through North Lakes and Evers Parks, to Sherman Drive. You’ll turn left, pass the Sherman Drive Fire Station, the Water Works Park (4 mile short course turnaround), and arrive at the Zachary Road Rest Stop (mile 8.6). Follow winding Zachery Rd until you hit Burger Rd (mi 10.4). Then, turn right on Burger Rd., which hairpins back to Route 2153, where you turn righ (mi. 12.8). You’ll turn right on Running Bear Road (mile 14.2), soon reaching Wishbone Pass on Highway 455 by Lake Ray Roberts. This is the decision point for all riders. You must reach Wishbone Pass by 11 a.m. to continue on the longer routes.
For the 29-mile route, Wishbone Pass is your turnaround, and so go back to the start via Running Bear Road.  Rout 2153.  Burger, Zachery, Sherman, and Windsor. Please note that Burder Rd meets up with Route 2153 twice.  Turn left at the second Burder Rd (mi. 16.4) for a smoother rider to Zachery.  As you exit North Lake Park, turn left on Bonnie Brae, to enter the church campus, where you’ll find fun, hot dogs and Syracuse sausages. There are three rest stops on this course, each with water, sports drink, and bananas.
The 39-mile course follows the 29 mile route to Wishbone Pass but turns right on Highway 455 and crosses the Lake Ray Roberts Dam.  On this route, you’ll find the rest stop at Pilot Point (mile 21.9). Then turn right onto Route 377 and right again at Route 3524 (mile 25) through Aubrey, where you’ll meet up with Route 428; and back to Sherman, Windsor, and the ICCC grounds. We’ve got a Syracuse sausage or hot dog waiting for you.
For those riders who want more, we offer the 52 and the 68 mile. You must reach Wishbone Pass by 11 a.m., if you wish to continue on the longer 52 and 68 mile routes.  From Wishbone Pass, turn left on Highway 455. At Marion Road just before Sanger High School, you’ll head right and ride several scenic country roads (Lois, Huling, and Chisam). Look for the Lois Road Rest Stop (mile 20.8) and Lone Oak Rest Stop at mile 27.  This is your return for the 52-miler, which follows little- traveled I-35 frontage roads back to Lois Road and then to ICCC.  On the return from Wishbone Pass, please note that Burger touches Route 2153 twice.  Take the first left onto Burger to ride the full 52 or 68 miles.  Then turn left on Zachary and onto home and hot dogs and sausages!
For the 68-miler, continue from Lone Oak Rest Stop right on Lone Oak Road and left onto Hemmings Rd. You’ll cross Lake Ray Roberts four times, hit the NEW Rudy's BBQ Rest Stop (mile 34.7), turn left on 922 to Valley View on the town square.  From here, head south on Lee Street to the I-35 frontage road until you reach Lois Road, Wishbone Pass, and home, where the Syracuse sausages and hot dogs are waiting.

All routes begin and end at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.  All routes (except the 8-miler) pass the Water Words Rest Stop and Wishbone Pass. Our well- marked route is supported this year with maps you can access on your phone.
Early onsite packet pick-up, and vendor booths are Friday night November 18th from 5 PM to 7 PM.  Park in the ICCC lot east of the school, and enter the hall south of the main school entrance.
Helmets are required. The Turkey Roll happens rain or shine. No refunds.
Turkey Roll tee-shirts are guaranteed for all registered riders present.
