Running-5K - 5K Run/Walk (alternate 1.5 mile route also available)
About This Activity
A memorial 5K run/walk is scheduled for Friday evening, June 19, 2015, in memory of 11-year old Delavan native, Avery McCarthy, who tragically lost her life October 24, 2012. The event, appropriately titled, AVERY STEP YOU TAKE, reminds us that we have a choice with every step we take to do something positive in our world. Avery is fondly remembered for her unwavering faith and her compassion to help others in need.
AVERYday Ministries looks to “plant seeds of faith” by simply being the light in the world in fun and engaging ways. One of the ways they plan to do that is by organizing a fun, casual 5K run/walk with an alternate 1.5-mile route available.
“We wanted to do something fun that everyone could participate in. Avery absolutely loved going for walks, especially in the city’s trail systems, and we felt this would be a fun way to honor her and remember her while bringing attention to her cause.”
