About This Activity
Looking to add some enjoyment and new challenges back into your running? Trample the Trails is looking to provide that by taking you off the monotonous road and exploring some of the great Madison area parks with low-pressure trail running opportunities for people of ages, abilities, and levels of experience. First time on a trail? This will be the perfect series for you to get introduced! Well marked courses, tasty treats, and good times for all is what will define the Trample the Trails Series. Donald Park provides a rustic feel and is the furthest from the heart of Madison, being a thirty minute drive. Donald Park is located in the Town of Springdale along two trout streams, southeast of Mt. Horeb off Highway 92, just west of Mt. Vernon. The Donald/Woodburn family donated the original 105 acres for this park. The park has since grown to encompass 480 acres containing oak woods, intriguing rock outcroppings with scenic vistas and springs. Donald Park is also known for its trout streams - Deer Creek, Frye Feeder, and Mt. Vernon Creek. There is a small picnic area called Pop's Knoll developed through a generous donation from the Woodburn family and the efforts of the Friends of Donald Park. Hiking and equestrian trails are available. This course will be the toughest of the four with the most elevation and climbs during the run!
