We invite you to join the True to the Blue 5K on Embry-Riddle’s campus in Daytona Beach on Saturday, October 13, 2018. The True to the Blue 5K will honor one of Embry-Riddle's first graduates of the Homeland Security program, Ashley Guindon. Ashley was a Marine Corps veteran who was tragically killed in the line of duty on her first day on the job as a Police Officer serving Prince William County, VA. on February 27, 2016. Funds raised from the 5K Run & Walk will benefit the Ashley Guindon Memorial Scholarship.
WHAT TO EXPECT : Prior to the race we will have Embry-Riddle's president Barry Butler and Volusia county's Sheriff Chitwood give remarks. Be prepared to be inspired and motivated as our national anthem is played by the Embry-Riddle ROTC pep band and a race start with a police motorcycle escort from the Volusia County Sheriff's Office. After running through the beautiful Embry-Riddle campus finish running along Embry-Riddle's famous Legacy Walk that commemorates the history of flight. Upon finishing runners can enjoy some Jeremiah's Italian Ice, cheer on fellow runners and visit the various static displays from the Volusia County Sheriff's office including marine, dive, motor, and helicopter displays. At 9:45 AM awards will be presented to our top finishers and age group winners. Additionally, everyone who participates in the race will have a chance to win door prizes that have been generously donated by our sponsors.

WHERE: The start/finish line will be located on Legacy Walk next to the Student Center at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University - Daytona Beach Campus.

ROUTE: This 5K route will run through Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University's beautiful Daytona Beach campus. The route is paved throughout and includes crossing Clyde Morris Blvd via the campus pedestrian bridge.
ENTRY FEES:ERAU Students: $20.00; Non-ERAU Students: $25.00 through October 3rd; $30 from October 4th until Race Day; Virtual Race: $30 through October 3rd; $35 from October 4th until Race Day.
REGISTRATION:Online preregistration closes 11:59 P.M. Thursday, October 11th. Register in-person at packet pick up and on race day 7:00-8:15 A.M. Race starts promptly at 8:30 A.M.
Give-aways: Runners registered by Wednesday, October 3rd are guaranteed a True to the Blue dri-fit t-shirt. Extra t-shirts will be available at packet pick up and race day, but these shirts will be first come first serve. Upon finishing all runners will also receive Italian ice from our sponsors Jeremiah's Italian Ice.
RACE TIMING AND SCORING: The race will be professionally timed and scored by Runner's High Timing and Race Management. The race will be timed using disposable, electronic tags attached to the bib number. Please wear your bib number to the front, pinned at all four corners, visible, and unaltered.
PACKET PICK-UP:There are 2 Options. Option 1: Eagle Block Party on the Connolly Quadrangle on the ERAU campus, date and time TBD; Option 2: Race Day - Saturday 10/13 7:15-8:15 A.M.
AWARDS: One of a kind iron medal, copper and nickel plated dog tags will be awarded to the top three male and female overall finishers as well as the first place male and female finishers in each age group. Beautiful blue aluminum dog tags will be awarded to the second and third place finishers in each each group. Age groups include 17 and under, 18-23, 24-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70+. All dog tags were made by our sponsors Commemorative Dog Tags in Port Orange, Florida. The award ceremony will start approximately at 9:45 AM.
