About This Activity

The True to the Blue 5K 

We invite you to join the True to the Blue 5K on Embry-Riddle’s campus in Daytona Beach on October 14, 2017.  The True to the Blue 5K will honor one of Embry-Riddle's first graduates of the Homeland Security program, Ashley Guindon.  Ashley was a Marine Corps veteran who was tragically killed in the line of duty on her first day on the job as a Police Officer serving Prince William County, VA. on February 27, 2016. Funds raised from the 5K Run & Walk will benefit the Ashley Guindon Memorial Scholarship.

This run will start and end next to a display of airplanes flown by alumni of Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University.  Race participants will have the opportunity to enter the display area and look at the planes after the race. The True to the Blue 5K is organized by Embry-Riddle's Student Veterans Organization, Homeland Security Student Association, and the Order of the Sword and Shield.

WHEN: Saturday, October 14, 2017 9:00 A.M.

WHERE: The start/finish line will be located in front of Flight Line statue outside the Emil Buehler Aviation Maintenance Science Building (BLDG 340) at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University - Daytona Beach Campus.

ROUTE: This 5K route will run through Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University's beautiful Daytona Beach campus. The route is primarily on roads, but there are portions of the route that are off-roads. Though strollers are allowed on the route, please be advised that there are various terrains throughout this route.

ENTRY FEES:  Before Oct 1st: $25.00; Oct 1st - Race Day: $30.00; ERAU Students Before Oct 12th - $20.00; ERAU Students Oct 12-Race Day: $25.00;

REGISTRATION: Online preregistration closes 11:59 P.M. Thursday, October 12th. In-person registration at packet pick up and on race day 7:45-8:30 A.M. Race starts promptly at 9:00 A.M.

T-SHIRTS: Runners registered by Sunday, October 8th are guaranteed to receive an event t-shirt.  Extra shirts will be available at packet pick up and race day but these shirts will be first come first serve.

RACE TIMING AND SCORING: The race will be professionally timed and scored by Runner's High Timing and Race Management. The race will be timed using disposable, electronic tags attached to the bib number. Please wear your bib number to the front, pinned at all four corners, visible, and unaltered.

PACKET PICK-UP: 2 Options:

  • Eagle Block Party - Friday 10/13 4:30-7:30 P.M. Connolly Quadrangle - ERAU Daytona Beach Campus;
  • Race Day - Saturday 10/14 7:45-8:30 A.M.

AWARDS: Top three overall male and female, and age group winners.
