About This Activity

Join us for the 1st Annual Leyton Warrior Challenge!  Be prepared to come clean and leave dirty!  Whether you are in shape, out of shape, pear shaped, or any other shape you are the right person for this event! You won't even notice the miles you go because the obstacles will be so fun! Just don't wear your favorite tennis shoes.  The event takes place at Leyton High School in Dalton, NE.  The kids 1 mile obstacle course will stay in town heading east from the high school and go around the baseball field and track.  There will be approximately 7 obstacles for the kiddos. Immediately following the kids fun run is the full obstacle course (approximately 4.5 miles with opportunities for earned rides on a 4-wheeler!!!) which will head northeast from the high school and go out through the country and back.  There are fun, wet, and dirty obstacles at approximately every 1/2 mile throughout the course (approximately 9 obstacles). As you enter the last obstacle you will hear music and a crowd cheering you on to the finish line. Included in your registration fee (first 500 participants) is a cool t-shirt, snacks, 4 water stations along the course and a good hose down courtesy of the Gurley Fire Department post-race!  Burgers/Dogs meal for purchase afterwards served by the Gurley Fire Department.  Bring your family, a lawn chair or blanket and enjoy the festivities!  We are on a mission to raise $35,000 to re-surface Leyton Elem/Jr High's playground.  So please come out and support this great cause, you won't be sorry! Help make our kids smile!!!

Event schedule and times

The Kids' race will start at 9:00 a.m. (approximately 1 mile).  Full obstacle course (approximately 4.5 miles) will start immediately following the Kids' race.  Kids should be there by 8:30 a.m. and adults by 9:00a.m.  Be prepared for some fun, some dirty, and some wet!!!  Meals for purchase immediately following the race.  DJ will be there with constant play-by-plays from volunteers out on the course as well as fun music to keep the kids entertained!  Course maps available soon.

What to bring for full course participants:

-ID and registration confirmation

-There are 4 water stations (one at each mile), if you get thirsty while running, consider a hydration pack

-Knee, elbow, or leg protection, pads, compression sleeves-or at least gloves

-Change of clothes, towel, shoes-for post race festivities

-Extra cash for food after race

Suggested attire:

-You are going to get dirty and probably trash your clothes. Wear clothing, shoes, and gear that you wouldn't mind discarding after the race.

-Since you will be getting wet, steer clear from WHITE!

-Race in something you have trained in (if you have trained!). Don't wear something straight out of the box.

-If you plan to compete like an athlete, plan to dress like one. Consider compression shorts, tights, tops, and/or socks. Cotton and baggy clothing is a bad choice. It will slow you down and get snagged on obstacle.

-Opt for trail running or off-road shoes

-Consider athletic or weight lifting gloves to help with grip and to protect your hands
