About This Activity

VOICE Today is pleased to host the Fourth Annual Volley for VOICE Fundraiser on Saturday May 17, 2014 at the James Creek Tennis Center. Funds raised from the event will support VOICE Today, a leader and innovator in child advocacy social work. Voice Today’s mission is to break the silence & cycle of child sexual abuse worldwide through awareness, prevention & healing programs.

The Beneficiary

VOICE Today, Inc. is a 501 (c)3 non-profit organization breaking the silence and cycle of child sexual abuse through awareness, educational and healing programs. As a leader and innovator, VOICE Today delivers child sexual abuse prevention programs and healing programs for survivors.

Child Sexual Abuse is a silent epidemic; the Centers for Disease Control statistics state:

  • 1 in 4 girls and 1 in 6 boys will be sexually abused before their 18 birthday
  • 93% of the abuse will be from someone the child knows, loves, and trusts
  • Only 1 out of every 10 abused children will ever report their abuse
  • There are between 39,000.000 and 60,000,000 reported survivors in the US
  • 70% of all sexual assault happens to a child

VOICE Today holds numerous programs, seminars, and conferences training adults on the importance of protection and prevention. We have worked with hundreds of parents, educators, churches, youth organizations, and state agencies. VOICE Today also conducts multiple conferences each year to provide much needed information and support for survivors and their loved ones. Healing and emotional restoration from childhood sexual abuse begins when we wipe out the silence. VOICE Today has Public Service Announcements and a powerful public awareness advertising campaign ready to implement and distribute as funding is generated.

Event schedule and times

This year we will be playing a round robin mixed doubles format.  We will rotate partners after playing a mini-set of four (4) no-ad games. The winning team in each four (4) game mini-set carries forward the points won each set.  The losers do not accumulate any points.  This repeats over the course of the event. There will be two first place winners (top scoring Man and top scoring Woman) as well as consolation prizes for lowest scores.

We have access to 10 courts (8 hard courts and 2 clay courts).  Volley for VOICE is open to all levels (3.0, 3.5, and 4.0) of players.  We will be playing two flight levels consisting of 40 players per flight based on your USTA or ALTA ranking as indicated on Player Enrollment Form. Flight Level 1 will consist of the top level players enrolled with remaining players in Flight Level 2.  There will be a 25 minute time limit imposed for the mini-set so no one match will last more than 25 minutes.  Once Flight 1 finishes then Flight 2 will play.  While Flight 2 is playing then Flight 1 will register points won and get new partner assignments and when Flight 2 finishes then Flight 1 will retake courts and while playing Flight 2 will register points won and get new partner assignments.  This will allow for a fast pace of play and smooth transition between rounds.

The Tournament entry fee is $55 per person, which includes breakfast, lunch, and player gift bags.  Balls will be provided at the event.  Deadline to register is May 14, 2013.  Matches will begin Saturday May 17th at 9:00am with registration and breakfast starting at 7:30 am.  For questions or additional information, please email info@voicetoday.org or contact us by phone at 678-578-4888.  Don’t miss this opportunity to support a wonderful cause and experience the excitement playing in a fast paced fun filled event.  Rain make up date is Sunday May 18th, if required and if make up date is rained out then play will be cancelled with no refund provisions.
