About This Activity

The Queen City Striders are hosting the inaugural Queen City Marathon for Active Water on the last Saturday of March. The race will start and end at Canal Place near the Western Maryland Railway Station in historic Downtown Cumberland, MD. The course will follow a double out & back format, utilizing both the Great Allegany Passage and the C&O Canal.

A representative from the USATF will be measuring and certifying the course. Once this process is complete, the race will be a 2015 Boston Qualifier.

The event is being held to support Active Water, a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that uses the athletic lifestyle and grassroots campaigns to bring clean water and sanitation proceeds to needed communities throughout the globe. Our support is twofold. First, we want to spread awareness of the organization within the long-distance running community. Second, proceeds from the event will be used to build community wells in Zambia, Africa.
