About This Activity

Come out and support the Ice Age Trail Alliance by joining in our Headlamp Hustle! Join us for the cool experience of running or walking with headlamps on the Table Bluff Segment of the Ice Age Trail in Cross Plains.

Your registration includes an automatic $10 donation to the IATA, Princeton Tec Byte Headlamp ($19.99 value), race bib, timing, 1 Lake Louie beer and trail snacks. Weather Permitting there will be a bonfire and live music going after the event. Food and additional beer will be available for purchase with all proceeds going to the IATA. The Headlamp Hustle is all about having a great time and getting some exercise with other outdoor enthusiasts and raising funds for a very important organization. Pre-registration is required.

Winners will be awarded a certificate to bring in to Fontana Sports redeemable for his or her choice of shoes from the specified brand.

Course Information: Located in the Driftless Area of southwestern Wisconsin, the Table Bluff Segment traverses restored prairie as well as steep, rocky slopes. There is approximately 200 feet of total vertical relief and several vistas from the heads of two valleys and two prominent goat prairies that offer great views of the Driftless Area. The path is dirt, mowed grass and glacial till (gravel).

We will start the race before sunset and most of the run/walk will take place in sunset/twilight conditions. All registrants will be provided a headlamp.  The course will be open until 9:00 pm, please plan your pace accordingly.

Registration is not refundable - you may change events or transfer your registration to another person for a $5.00 fee through Thursday, May 22nd.

We will be running rain or shine.  In the VERY unlikely event that conditions are unsafe to hold the event no refunds will be issued.  The entirety of every registration fee (minus active.com processing fees & headlamp cost) will be donated to the Ice Age Trail Alliance.

Times will be posted after the event and an informal awards ceremony held at 9:00pm.

Feel free to bring friends and family to cheer you on and participate in the festivities.  Dogs are allowed on the Ice Age Trail so your are welcome to run with yours but please keep in mind that a lot of the course will be single track and could possibly be congested, please only bring your dog if they will not be startled by other runners passing. We want everyone (and your pets) to be safe!

Parking is limited, so please carpool if you can.

Directions: Scheele Rd. From the IATA headquarters in Cross Plains, take USH-14 west 1.2 mi. At CTH-KP turn right and go north 0.3 mi. At Scheele Rd. turn left and go west 0.3 mi to a gated gravel road on the north side and the Trail access. Limited roadside parking in mowed off-road area. Please do not block access road.

Both 5K and 10K will start at 7:30pm

Please note, if you miss the start you are welcome to start late but your time will not be adjusted.  The course will close at 9:00pm.


Awards: 9:00pm

Music and bonfire: During/post race until 10:00pm
