Please bring a compass (nothing fancy) 6pm – 720pm Registration open 730pm Mandatory runners meeting 8pm to 8am Race Sunday 6/15/14: 730am Last time allowed to begin final lap / 8am Race end 830am breakfast and awards at Janice's Diner (participants will get a free $10 meal voucher) Categories: Individual and 3 person team (one teammate on the course at a time) categories Pricing: $85pp / $255 team "On time" price (including teams) through June 12th 2014. (PDF directions on home page) ***Please scroll to the bottom of our event web page to see our standard policies for all adventure events!*** Overview: A new course and race design for 2014 and now we add navigation!We have ditched the roped off course and now provide a detailed trail map marked with target drop locations in which the runner must drop tokens (with their number on it) at each of the five locations per "lap". The cool thing... the runner decides the route and course selection to include going "off trail" and breaking brush in search of a shortcut (that could turn into a longcut - lol). Description:This is an your face, dirty, wet, sweaty, strength & stamina required event. The course boasts over 1,400ft of elevation rise and fall per "lap". It is a leg shredder. Psychological manipulation from the rugged terrain, unlit trails full of natures critters, dark & muddy pond crossings, constant wet feet and clothes, and exhaustion coupled with sleep deprivation is common. Now we add map reading and decision making! Only the physically and mentally strong will go for 12hrs. Scoring / Determining a Winner: Participants will depart the official scoring area with 5 tokens to begin their lap. Each lap, one token must be placed in each of the five target drop locations. Upon the last token being dropped, the runner returns to the official scoring area and checks in. Teams shall decide whether to send the same person on another "lap", or change members. Individual participants can choose to do another lap or rest. The team with the most "laps" wins the team competition. The individual with the most "laps" completed in 12 hours will be crowned "The Reaper" that did his/her damage for 12hrs and cleaned out the field! The last "lap" allowed departure time is :30mins prior to race end. Equipment Required: For the night portion of the event, participants MUST depart the official scoring area with a functioning (suggest it’s waterproof) portable light (flashlight, headlamp, etc). You will not be allowed to begin the lap without a functioning light. Backup lights are recommended. Plan for the lighting requirement of up to 45mins per lap. Hands free lighting is recommended for the rope climb, but not mandatory. A compass is optional and will most likely just be used to orient the runner and their map to North. Something simple is recommended such as this. Camping / Facilities / Food: This is a long event, and participants are encouraged to throw a tent down if they choose. Camping is allowed Friday after 3pm. Saturday night camping is free, but we ask for a small $$$ donation for Friday or Sunday nights. Porta johns will be on site. Non-potable water will be available for general washing and rinsing. Hot and cold concessions will be available for purchase.
New this year!!! Awards will be held at Janice's Diner, just down the road! Race participants will enjoy a hot breakfast while enjoying comaraderie and stories from the trail. At registration check in, runners will receive a meal voucher good for up to $10!
