About This Activity
“Run, Walk & Roll Against Bullying” is a school, family and community event hosted by the Galvan Parent Teacher Association, PTA is an organization that supports the whole campus. Our PTA strives to build relationships between students, their families and staff. Many times PTA feels disconnected from school families due to the busy life of our parents trying to maintain a household. Our goal is to provide a family event that encourages relationship building while having fun in a safe environment. PTA wants parents and students to know the effects that bullying have on children. Galvan PTA feels that hosting Run, Walk and Roll Against Bullying will make strides in schools and throughout the community.
• It is estimated that 160,000 children miss school every day due to fear of attack or intimidation by other students. • American schools harbor approximately 2.1 million bullies and 2.7 million of their victims. • 1 in 7 Students in Grades K-12 is either a bully or a victim of bullying. • According to bullying statistics, 1 out of every 10 students who drops out of school does so because of repeated bullying.
These numbers continue to rise every year, month, week, day, hour, second… Run, Walk & Roll Against Bullying goal is to provide an event where families throughout the community can come together to support children of all ages and abilities that have encountered bullying or who continue to be the voice that says, stop! We hope that all attendees become more aware of the severity of bullying in our community and will pledge to make a difference. Through the tireless effort of our team, employees and generous partners, we dedicate each and every day to educating our students about the severity of bullying.
Proceeds from this event will be used to begin an anti-bullying program at Galvan Elementary and update outdated technology on campus.
