About This Activity

 A Patriotic Run to Celebrate America! 

(event formerly known as the Coronado Independence Day 15K/5K)

Come run 7.4 miles (12K) on July 4th! Run the streets of Coronado and then stay for the largest 4th of July Parade on the west coast after the event. There is also a 5K and 1/2 mile kids run. This race is in it's 41st year!!

6:00am – Race Day Registration Opens
7:00am – 12K and 5K races begin
9:00am – Kids Fun Run begins
9:15am – Awards Ceremony
10:00am – Coronado Independence Day Parade Begins

Walk-up Registration available at Packet Pick Up if the event is not sold out. Pick up your bib, timing tags and t-shirt at Packet Pick-Up Photo IDs are required. You may pick up for a friend if you have a copy of their photo ID.


Run 7.4 miles (12K) on 7/4 or participate in the 5K (3.1 miles). The 2015 course will be a similar route as prior years- Along Glorietta Blvd towards the Naval Amphibious Base. Official course maps coming soon.


We strongly recommend carpooling as the Island will be congested with 4th of July visitors. Parking is free on surface streets and available on a first come first served basis. We will release a detailed Parking Plan prior to the event date.

Coronado Ferry- Coronado to San Diego
The ferry begins operating at 9:30 am leaving from Coronado to San Diego every half hour.

Catch a ride to the race and then take the ferry back to San Diego to avoid the Coronado bridge traffic. Cost is $4.25 for a one way ticket. Visit for more information.


Every Finisher gets a Medal!


Award Divisions are Top 3 overall in the 5K and 12K race and top 3 in each USATF recommended age group (14 and Under, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79, 80-84, 85-89, & 90+). Overall winners will be excluded from age group awards.
