Come join us on the 13th of August and support our West Point Triathlon Team! The race will fill up quickly as we will cap the race at 75 male and 75 female participants! This event is for experienced triathletes only and is open to ages 16 and up.
The West Point Draft Legal Triathlon is a USA Triathlon (USAT) sanctioned event. You are racing under the USAT Competitive Rules and there will be USAT certified referees on the course to ensure fairness in the competition. There will be no warnings if you commit a foul during competition. At the end of the race all citations by the marshals are reviewed by the Head Referee who then decides if a penalty should be assessed. The Head Referee's ruling is final in the case of Position Violations and there are no protests or appeals of Position penalties.
The following rules will be strictly enforced:
Road handlebars only (NO TRIATHLON forward facing bars allowed)
No disc wheels allowed
All USAT draft legal elite rules apply
*For the Draft Legal race, your bicycle must have a traditional triangular frame; wheels must have at least 12 spokes; handlebars must be traditional drop-style with bar-ends plugged; clip-on aerobars may not extend beyond the brake levers' foremost line and must be bridged; no bar-end gear shifters allowed; elbow pads are allowed; no junior gear restrictions (as in cycling).
The West Point Draft Legal Triathlon will be held on August 13th with waves starting at approximately 1:00pm. Optional packet pick up will be available at Barth Hall from 3:00pm to 5:00pm on August 12th followed by a race brief at 5:00pm. All EDR athletes must attend one of the two offered pre-race briefs. Packet pick up will be available following the alternate brief and transition will be open from 7:30am to 9:30am. Transition will also be open at 11:45 am for those athletes that do not want to remain at Camp Buckner all morning on the 13th.
