About This Activity
Join us for the 2nd Annual Selfless Elf 5K Run/Walk as part of Corning's Sparkle celebration! This event is for everyday runners, serious runners and walkers alike! The event is family friendly and we hope it will add to your holiday spirit!
We invite runners and walkers to dress up in their favorite festive holiday-themed costumes or running gear for the3.1 milecourse through Corning; ending in Centerway Square just asSparkle is kicking off! Every runner will receive an event t-shirt & striped elf socks!
The race will begin at 3:00 PM on December 5th, beginning at the Corning Fire Department next to the Corning-Painted Post High School with Professional Timing and Scoring from AuyerRacetiming!
This is a very special holiday 5K because every dollar raised by our participants allows the Food Bank to acquire three meals for a family in need. The Food Bank of the Southern Tier is committed to creating a future without hunger where access to healthyfood by all is recognized as fundamental to the well-being and success of individuals and the foundation of a strong, vibrant society.

There will be a water station at the halfway mark, as well as refreshments provided by Wegmans at the finish line.
The race will go on, come rain or shine!

TEAM SIGN UP Participants have the option to form teams, whether they be corporate teams, community teams, or fundraising teams for The Food Bank of the Southern Tier. The formation of teams will be available to everyone during the registration process. Take note, that if you are registering for yourself, you will have the option to either: 1) Join an existing team 2) Create a new team that is available to the public 3) Create a team that is password protected to you and your team members. Each team is required to have a Team Captain who can assign him/herself during the registration process. If you are registering for another person, you only have the option to put that participant on an existing team. So gather up your friends and family, break out your festive gear, and start fundraising!
AWARDS & PRIZES
- Participants registered by 11/21 are guaranteed a free T-shirt and socks! Entries postmarked after November 21st subject to the quantity and sizes available.
- Prizes for overall winners, male and female. Age group prizes for the first two places in each age bracket, male and female:
5 and under, 6-9, 10-14, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70 plus
-Prizes will also be given for the "best dressed" male and female, as well as the top fundraising team and individual.
