About This Activity

Around the World in 5K is a Fun Run Event at Texas A&M University-Commerce that is fun and eventful for everyone.  The course is easy terrain and scenic through the university campus.  There will be 5-6 country stations where you will perform a quick and easy physical activity from that country. (ie: Brazil-kick a soccer ball into a goal, Texas-rope (attempt) a steer).  Lots of fun and laughter with friends!   Prizes will be awarded to Overall Male and Overall Female Finishers.

Phi Pi Delta is a non-profit organization and will accept donations to be given directly to the Civic Health Initiative Organization (see below).

A portion of the race proceeds go to help support the Civic Health Initiative Organization in Cambodia.  Dr. Quynh Dang (Professor for TAMUC-Health and Human Performance) takes several students to Cambodia each December to the Children's Lighthouse Orphanage.  While there, they have started and taught the children how to grow a garden that has contiued to bloom in the past year.  They have taken clothes for children and adults that live in signifcant poverty.  They have also brought physical activity games and toys to these children and adults.  With the proceeds from this event we are able to help with the cost of the items to transport each year (soccer balls, seeds to plant, dolls, etc.)  This is a great organization that fights to help these individuals living in such undesirable conditions.  Over the past several years this has been a great opportunity for the select students that are chosen to travel and take part in this endeavor.
