First Annual Pets for Vets Ohio State Community Dog Walk
About This Activity
Pets for Vets at Ohio State is a student organization dedicated to supporting the efforts of the national charity and state chapter. This charity helps heal the emotional wounds of veterans suffering from PTSD, TBI, or depression by pairing them up with a shelter dog at risk of being euthanized. The dogs are specially trained to cater to each veterans emotional and physical needs, and expenses regarding the veterans new life long companion are covered for the first year. Pets for Vets is dedicated to giving these animals and our brave veterans a second chance at a happy ending!
To further our mission in raising funds and awareness for the charity, Pets for Vets at Ohio State is hosting its first ever Mutt Strut, a Community dog-walk for anyone to join!
This year's theme will be Halloween! As such, all participants (dog + human) will have the opportunity to dress up in costume and trick or treat along a 1 mile course and/or a 5K length course.
In addition to the walk/run, there will be a costume contest, two food trucks: The Tasty Good (chicken fingers) and The Barkery (dog treats), a selection of light snacks, raffle baskets, and booths set up by local animal-welfare or Veteran related organizations to check out.
Tickets are $20 (price increase on 10/8) and each ticket purchase includes an event T-shirt and goodie bag full of freebies for the first 200 participants.
**Children 3 years old and under are free and we welcome strollers on our course.**
If long walks through one of Columbus' most beautiful parks is your (or your pets) thing, then please join us for this fun, family-oriented event in which all proceeds will directly benefit the Pets for Vets Columbus chapter to help them in their mission of saving pets, and healing Vets.
***For the safety of all participants, please make sure that your pet is current on all vaccinations and in good health. Additionally, all dogs MUST be on a leash.
