The Memorial Day Mayhem 5k obstacle course time trial has more than 30+ obstacles. The time trial format allows you to race the clock rather than the people in your wave. We will send you off in waves every 30-120 seconds as you test your mettle against this one-of-a-kind course. You will get wet and muddy, but you’ll have a great time doing it. Try something new at the Black Diamond. Food and beverages will be available after the race free of charge.

BEFORE THE RACE The Memorial Day Mayhem is a time trial. You will be running against the clock. Beginning at 9:00am we will be sending 10 participants every 30 to 120 seconds Multi-Lap runners will ALL be going first so please be ready to go at 9:00am. The rest of the field will go immediately after the multi-laps runners. Roughly 9:15am
THE RACE We have more than 30 obstacles set up over 5k. Please be courteous and announce when passing, and please allow the other runners to pass. The course map is attached. Please review it ahead of time to avoid confusion and to “game-plan” your strategy.
ALL OBSTACLES ARE MANDATORY. Because this is a time trial, we ask that you give each obstacle 3 solid tries. If it still can’t be completed, then there is a 10 burpee penalty. If you feel like you are unable to try an obstacle, then there is a 30 burpee penalty. All penalties are to be performed before advancing along the course. A few notes on obstacles: If you see a cowbell, hit it with hands only – NO KICKING THE BELL! The bell must be rung for the obstacle to be considered complete. Obstacle #4 and #30 (8ft slanted wall) – We are using this obstacle twice. Please be courteous of the other runners if there is more than one on at a time. Obstacle #6 (Tire Flip) – There are two men’s tires and two women’s tires. We ask for 4 flips. Typically two flips in one direction and two back to the start. Obstacle #13 & #15 (Water Crossing) Obstacle #18 (Tyrolean Traverse) – Our own spin on the standard obstacle. Please use the invisible ladder to reach the rope. Ring the bell at the end. Obstacle #19 (Wall Hangers courtesy if the Indian Mud Run) – The obstacle is complete when you touch the rope at the end. Obstacle #22 (Log Carry) – Grab a log and run around the INSIDE of the softball fence and return around the OUTSIDE. Drop the log in the same place you picked it up. Obstacle #23 (Rope-unzel) – There is no bell here, BUT there are three rungs of tape. The middle rung is the target (15ft). Please tap the tape before descending. Obstacle #24-25 (Run the Ridge, Wall Traverse) – This is a combined obstacle. If you touch the ground at all once engaging the obstacle, you must return to the beginning. Obstacle #30 (8ft Slanted Wall) – See above.
RESULTS Race results will be available after the race at SpeedySneakers.com Awards ceremony is tentatively scheduled for 11:00am (subject to change depending on the final number of participants).
