About This Activity

This event includes a camp skills section lead by USAT certified coaches  followed by a non-competitive youth triathlon.   The event is open to youth 6-14 years old that want to have FUN learning about triathlons and then practice doing a triathlon!  Must be able to swim, bike (without training wheels), and run.  

Camp Details:
Youth will learn how to sight and swim around buoys, how to set up a transition area, how to transition from the swim to bike and the bike to run, bike handling and safety, running tips, triathlon rules and regulations, and how to pace their energy to finish a KIDS TRIATHLON.

Practice Triathlon Details:
After the camp, youth will apply what they have learned by completing a KIDS TRIATHLON in a non-competitive event.  Kids ages 6-10 may have one parent accompany them on the bike.  The swim is open water simulated in a pool with buoys, the bike is a 2 mile loop on neighborhood roads, and the run is on sidewalks/paths/and grass.  This is the same course as the KIDZ Triathlon Event.

Triathlon Distances:
6-8 yrs old - ~ 30 yds swim (L-shape course in pool)-2 mile bike- 1/2 mile run
9-10 yrs old - ~ 75 yds swim (1 loop of triangular course in pool)- 2 mile bike - 1/2 mile run
11-14 yrs old- ~ 150 yds swim (2 loops of triangular course in pool- 4 mile bike - 1 mile run

Other Details:
A parent must be present for the entire camp and practice triathlon. Post-event refreshments and give-a-ways will follow the practice triathlon.  All participants receive swim cap, race belt, Slack Laces by Yankz, and t-shirt.

Inclement Weather Policy:
This event will be held rain or shine. In case of extreme weather conditions, such as thunderstorms or unsafe swimming conditions as determined by the event organizers and/or officials, the event will be modified or cancelled. No Refunds.

Refund Policy:
No Refunds for this event.  Registration can be transferred to another athlete until June 30th for a small fee.

Event schedule and times

What to Bring:
A parent, photo ID, USAT membership card (or purchase $10 one-day membership), swimming suit, goggles, hair ties for long hair, towels, bike in good working order, bike helmet, shorts and top to bike and run, shoes to bike and run, hat or visor, sunscreen, and a water bottle filled with water.
