Welcome to the 36th Winter Series.

The Coolest Race in Town!


The series consists of four progressively longer (Long and Short) races.   Please note: You must choose your distance when registering. The Long Race starts at 10:00am. Short Race starts at 10:20am.  The courses are gravel/paved roads, packed double-track, and some single-track trails, which may or may not be snow-packed, icy, muddy, rocky, slushy, uphill and/or downhill.  Altitude will vary from 6,000’ to 7,500’.  Temperatures will range from 50o to -25o.  Races will be cancelled if extremely bad weather exists on race day.  There are no refunds for race cancellations or no-shows.


Please, no dogs or baby joggers on the courses. Per PPRR race rules, headphones are not allowed to be used during races. 


We offer a FREE series entry if are you active-duty police, fire or military.  ID is required with registration.  You cannot receive this offer through online entry.  This includes access to the four races only, and excludes SWAG, which can be purchased separately for a small fee upon sign-up.  You must pre-register by January 5, 2015.  If SWAG is being purchased, signed entry form and payment of $20.00 must either be mailed or hand-delivered to:  John Gardner / Morgan Stanley - 121 South Tejon Street, #700 - Colorado Springs, CO  80903.  Without SWAG, entries can also be faxed to (719) 473-3940 (Attention:  John Gardner) or scanned and e-mailed to:  john.n.gardner@moeganstanley.com.  The entry form can be downloaded at www.pprrun.org.

Event details and schedule

Parking at some venues will be at a premium.  Your race or series entry will include a one-day parking pass for Cheyenne Mountain State Park on January 10th.  Carpool if you can.  If you have a State Parks Pass, please present it upon entry for Race #1. The courses close at 1:00pm.  At that time, remaining runners will be picked up.  Contact the Race Director if you want to start before the stated time.  Your time will be unofficial and will not be part of award recognition.  Participant must complete one full series entirely to be considered for any awards.


SWAG: By paying for the series in full by the 2nd event, or by volunteering, you will receive Winter Series swag: Two pairs of very warm, cozy woolie running socks ($15 value each) and a Winter Series water bottle (Specialized Big Mouth brand – only the best!).  Both items will display the Winter Series 2015 logo so you can prove to your running buddies how cool you are.




Race #1 – Hell’s Hills


January 10, 2015 – 10:00 and 10:20am

Cheyenne Mountain State Park

3.3M (short series) or 7.0M (long series)


DIRECTIONS:  From I-25 / South Nevada [Downtown Colorado Springs], take Nevada / Highway 115 South toward Canon City.  Continue south past Academy Boulevard/Highway 83.  The park entrance will be on the right (west) side of Highway 115, directly across from the main gate to Fort Carson (traffic signal).  Arrive early and please carpool.  There will be no race parking at the Visitor’s Center.  Please continue past the entrance station and turn left into the main parking lot at the finish area.  Registration is inside the Visitor’s Center which is a 1/4M walk from parking area.  Race start is in the Visitor’s Center parking lot. 



Race #2 – Over the River and Through the Woods


January 24, 2015 – 10:00am and 10:20am

Norris Penrose Events Center

4.0M (short series) or 8.0M (long series)


DIRECTIONS:  Interstate 25 -Exit Highway 24/Cimarron. Go west to 8th Street, then turn left. Turn right onto Lower Gold Camp Rd. and head west to the main entrance to the Norris Penrose Events Center. Please park in the north parking lot (on your right after entering). Staging area is inside “The Sirloin” on the south side of the main stadium. Follow volunteer instructions.


Race #3 – The Old New Fast Course


February 14, 2015 – 10:00am and 10:20am

El Pomar Youth Sports Center

5.0M (short series) or 10.0M (long series)


DIRECTIONS:  Interstate 25 -Exit 138 (Circle Drive).  Travel east to Janitell Road South, turn right (south); Go east 3 blocks, turn left onto Executive Dr. East. El Pomar Sports Center is on left.  Plenty of parking.  Staging area is Sports Building



Race #4 – Harry’s Valley of the Dogs


February 28, 2015 – 10:00am and 10:20am

Wolford Elementary School – Black Forest

10.0K (short series) or 20.0K (long series)


DIRECTIONS:  Interstate 25 -Exit 153 (Interquest Parkway).  Drive 2.0M east and north to Shoup Road.  Turn right (east) onto Shoup Road for 4.2M to stoplight.  Turn left (north) onto Black Forest Road for 1.6M.  Traffic control will direct to the parking areas.  Staging area is at the front of the school.

ProRodeo Hall of Fame


Join all of your cool running buddies for the annual Winter Series Awards Banquet.  Even if you don't qualify for an award, it's a great party, and will feature the world premiere of "Winter Series IV - A New Documentary Film Demonstrating the Growing Movement of Gimmicks and Games in the Ancient Sport of Running and Racing".  Catered dubber abd extra fee will apply
