Event details and schedule

Refer to the website for questions or news:

Packet pick up and new registrations will be open from 7:45-8:45.

Transition Area Open:    8:00-9:05.

Mandatory race meeting at 9:10.

Race Start:  9:30

When you get to Lake Tejas you will be asked if you plan to stay until the race is over; this means until after the award ceremony.  If you plan to stay, then park in the participant parking.  Everyone will get a finishers medal.  If you do not want to hang around for the awards, then you will want to park in the visitor parking.

After parking, go to the registration building, and bring your photo ID and USAT one day or annual membership card if you have one.  After you register you can easily walk back to the participant parking lot.

There will be chip timing.  Bring whatever nutrition and hydration you want to use.  We will have plenty of Gatorade and water for the run, but there will be no handouts on the bike route.  Bring your bike (any bike will be OK that is not a recumbent or kickbike) and bike helmet to the bike check in just outside the transition area.  Your bike should have the handlebar ends plugged.

Wetsuits will be permitted, I expect the water temp to be around 70 degrees.  Most participants will not wear a wetsuit.  We will have wetsuit strippers.   There will be no swim caps provided.

At the finish line be sure that a volunteer collects your timing chip.  Remember after you finish there will be a free lunch (hamburgers, fruit, etc.) and music.  The UBA Disaster Relief Team will be cooking.  You can make a donation to them if you like.  You can take a shower and change clothes if you want.

The awards ceremony will begin soon after the last person finishes the race.  It should be 11:45 to noon.  You must be present to get an award, unless you have a friend who will claim it for you.

Since this is the beginning of the tri season, I also advise putting new tires and tubes on your bike.  I have seen the heartbreak of those who had to drop out because a tire blew out.  Please also thank and be courteous to the volunteers who make this event possible.

I anticipate that this will be a great event with perfect weather.  I hope you enjoy the beauty of this area—including the wildflowers.  This should be the highlight of your weeks of training.  If this is your first triathlon, just focus on enjoying the experience and learning what you will need to work on.

This year we will have a giant bounce house for children, so feel free to bring the whole family.
