About This Activity

The new race date is set for September 12th...

Hi, my name is Ben Emerson.  I’m a sophomore at Collierville High School.  For my Eagle Scout project two years ago, I organized the Freedom Run 5K to support Forever Young Senior Veterans of Collierville, with the goal of sending three veterans on a special trip to Pearl Harbor, Hawaii during 2018.  With your help, I was able to meet my goal of sending three veterans on that special trip.  In 2019, the Freedom Run 5K raised funds to send veterans to Normandy for the 75th anniversary of  D-Day.   The veterans who went on the trip to Normandy had many amazing experiences and they were featured on ABC World News Tonight as well as other news outlets around the world.  You can read more about the Normandy trip and the amazing mission of Forever Young Senior Veterans at their website, www.foreveryoungvets.org

Again this year I am organizing a fun 5K race/walk on the boardwalk and dirt trails of Collierville’s WC Johnson Park, on Saturday, September 12th, 2020 at 8:00 a.m. The funds raised will help send three of our heroes on a Trip of Honor to Germany in honor of the 75th anniversary of the liberation of the Buchenwald Concentration Camp.  Please bring the whole family and join us for a fun race/walk with patriotic music. Some of our wonderful veterans will also attend.  This is a great way to show all of our veterans how much we appreciate their sacrifices on behalf of our country.

Pre-registration is $25 per person until August 30th and $30 per person after.  All participants will receive a T-shirt and refreshments.  There will be awards for all age categories.  Registration will begin at 7:00 a.m. on September 12th.

Spirit runners are welcome and additional donations toward this amazing goal are greatly appreciated.  Thank you for your support!
