The first annual “Swifty Swine 5K Trail Run or 5K Walk” brought to you by the Dr. John Warner Hospital (DJWH) and DJWH Foundation, will take place on Clinton’s 46th annual “2014 Apple & Pork Festival” weekend. Mark your calendars for Saturday September 27th at 8am for this fun family event at Weldon Springs State Park, just outside of Clinton. A “Piglet Prance” FREE “kiddie race” for 200 and 400 yard dashes will take place as well. Free “piggie” cinch sac bag to the first 100 registered participants. After enjoying the beautiful Weldon Springs, please plan to stay in Clinton and enjoy the foods, crafts, vendors and festivities of this popular annual Apple & Pork Festival

• 5K fee:? $20 “Early-Bird” until Sept. 20 [5K t-shirt guaranteed]

              ? $25 “Late” after Sept. 20 [5K t-shirt not guaranteed]

              ? $30 “Last-Minute-Couldn’t-Make-Up-My-Mind” race day

Participants in the 5K Run will be grouped by age and gender on race day in the following categories: 9 & under; 10-14; 15-19; 20-29; 30-39; 40-49; 50-59; 60-69; 70+

• Prizes will be presented to 1st and 2nd place in each age group for the 5K. The 5K awards ceremony will begin at 9:15AM.

Piglet Prance is for kids 10 & under, not doing the 5K

Piglet Prance Kids Race will begin at 10am, after the award   ceremony. FREE goodie bag to first 100 participants. The Piglet Prance race distances are for 200 & 400 yards.

Packet pick up is from 6:30am to 7:45am on race day at the Chautauqua picnic shelter on the north side of Weldon Springs

• Weldon Springs is located 2 miles southeast of Clinton.

• Race day parking is available near the Concession / Harbor area in Weldon Springs State Park. Look for signs on race day!

The race starts and ends at Weldon Springs Chautauqua Picnic Area and runs through the Old Farm Trail and just north of the shelter to create the 3.1 mile, or 5K, appropriate distance.

• This 5K trail race event will not be chip-timed. Popsicle sticks will be given at the finish line for times.

• Race route is a moderately flat, scenic, non-road 5K trail race.

• 5K run begins at 8am and the 5K Walk follows immediately after the runners are out. (Walkers will please line up behind the runners.)

• Pets are not permitted to participate in run or walk events.

• Come have FUN at this family friendly event prior to enjoying Clinton’s 46th annual Apple N’ Pork Festival which will be open until 5pm on Saturday and 9am-5pm on Sunday in Clinton.

• After the race, bring your change of clothes and towel. Call for details on post-race “freshening up” for out-of-town guests.
