Mt. Airy Ridge Run is a perennial favorite. This is the largest park in the city and features extensive trails.
Mt. Airy Forest is, in fact, is one of the larger parks located within a city's limits in the country. Even Central Park can only boast 843 acres, while Mt. Airy holds a massive 1,469.9 acres. The Mt. Airy Forest Ridge Run is aptly named, as the runners will get a wilderness experience that mirrors the Sierras at times. The course winds through all of the features Mt. Airy has to offer, such as its lush evergreens, dense harwoods, open meadows, flowing rivers, and of course, hill climbs and ridge traverses.
The Mt. Airy Forest Ridge Run will have TWO separate races over different distances. There will be a two lap race (10.6) miles that will begin at 9:00 a.m. There will also be a one lap race (5.4 miles) that will start at 9:15 a.m.
This is the third leg of the 2017 Dirt Days Trail Series. Each event will be scored separately and both events will count toward the Series points.
