About This Activity

The Third Annual Great Goose Chase 5K Run/Walk/Wheelchair, hosted by Washington College Best Buddies, takes participants on a beautiful trail around the Washington College Campus and the Rails to Trails tree-lined path. In addition to representatives from our sponsors, Yerkes Construction and the Chestertown Running Club, participants will be accompanied by some very special guests, the Kent Center Run/Walk Team.  This club, started in 2014 by Jay Yerkes, engages our Kent Center family members, adults who have developmental disabilities, in a weekly run/walk/wheelchair program that builds not only physical strength, but also improves mental health and community engagement skills. The team has been practicing for months for this race, which will be their first. We hope you join them as they take this next step in their personal journeys!

The money raised from the race, will be used to continue to provide the training, programs and services necessary to help our Kent Center family members thrive, achieving their personal goals and creating their networks of support and family.  We thank you so much for considering joining Yerkes Construction and the Chestertown Running Club in participating it the Great Goose Chase and supporting our Kent Center family.

Event details and schedule

The Great Goose Chase is set for Saturday, March 28, 2015. Registration will begin at 8:00 AM in Martha Washington Square on the Washington College Campus. Parking is available on the campus and signs will be up to help you locate the nearest lots.

You can register online using this site, or you can register the day of the event. Dress appropriately for the weather and note that costumes are welcome!

Prior to the race there will be lots of fun, music and snacks. The official welcome will begin at 8:40. The race will start at 9:00. To respect the differing abilities of race participants, we will not have the awards ceremony until the last racers pass the finish line. We hope that you will stick around to cheer on other participants who have worked so hard to compete in the race.
