Registration for the USAT SE Region Coaching Clinic is open to all USA Triathlon Certified Coaches. Please provide your certification level and membership number during registration.

This clinic will cover topics including Youth & Junior Coaching, Draft Legal Racing, Differences between Draft Legal vs Triathlon/TT Bikes, and How to Improve Aerodynamics on the Bike. The course is free (except for a small processing fee) to all USAT Certified Coaches and 3 CEUs will be awarded towards recertification.DRAFT LEGAL RACING presented by Kathleen Johnston: This session will focus on all things related to developing a thorough knowledge of draft legal triathlon. With increased interest in draft legal racing by more and more athletes, and the inclusion of draft legal racing for age g{oup athletes in upcoming World Championship events this course will prove quite valuable to coaches.This course will cover draft legal race rules, racing opportunities, athlete development and coaching considerations related to preparing athletes for the unique draft legal race format.Coaches will learn:• USAT and ITU draft legal race rules regarding equipment and race procedures• Draft legal race options for junior and collegiate athletes - FL, Youth and Junior Elite Cups, Mixed Team Relay, Collegiate Club races, Women's NCAA• Draft legal race options for adult athletes - EDR's, open age group events, ITU Age Group World Championships• Elite athlete racing - Super Sprints, Continental Cups, World Cups, World Triathlon Series• Unique training considerations for preparing athletes to race draft legal format such as dive starts, executing lightening fast transitions, cycling skills for looped criterium style courses and race tactics.YOUTH & JUNIOR COACHING presented by Lisa Marshall: Learn how to inspire, motivate and coach youth developmental through Junior Elite athletes to reach their individual potential and to enjoy the sport. We will discuss proper training distances, the importance of technique in each discipline at any age and how to run youth team practices so they have fun while training.• How coaching youth differs from coaching adults• Make training fun to keep them engaged, safe and injury free• Team Structure from Developmental to HPT teams• Organization of group practices to coach a wide range of abilitiesBIKE AERODYNAMICS presented by Litespeed Bicycles: Topics include Draft Legal bikes versus Triathlon/TT bikes, General Bike Aerodynamics, and specifically how to improve your client's aerodynamics on the bike.
