About This Activity
An awesome course that runs across the river into the North Shore area of Chattanooga. A course that I have been running for the past 3 years that has several great views of the city. You will finish in the downtown area, so after the race you can get a bite to eat with a great selection of restaurants or you can sign up for the Noodles 9k or 4.5k which starts at 9am and is only a 2 minute walk from my finish line.
Run4water is a unique organization that strives to make their events different. The organization was kicked off in 2007 with a 120 mile run across the state of TN in 24 hours by one man with a passion to bring people clean water and make a difference. Lebanon, TN is where the organization is operated out of and has seen much success in a small running community. Chattanooga has one of the largest running communities in the state of TN and with this race, we plan to root ourselves in this wonderful city and tap into and challenge this running community to help us make a difference in thousands of lives. We are fighting an uphill battle as more and more of our freshwater is becoming contaminated with toxic waste, parasites, and many other harmful substances. Most believe this to only be a problem in 3rd world countries, however, surprisingly we have done most of our work here in our own state!
This course will challenge you no matter what level of fitness you are at. You WILL NOT have a PR on this course.
The reason for this race is not only to help raise money for the water crisis, but we want to raise awareness for the struggles that millions of people have to face every day. On average, a person in a third world country walks 4 miles to get water... that water may not even be clean! 4,000 children die daily because of water borne illnesses! We are willing to fight that uphill battle to change this, but in order to conquer this monumental task, we need your help. So come join us in our endeavor and make a difference in someones life.
“Being challenged in life is inevitable, being defeated is optional.” -Roger Crawford
“The key to life is accepting challenges. Once someone stops doing this, he's dead.” -Bette Davis
“When you do what you love, the seemingly impossible becomes simply challenging, the laborious becomes purposeful resistance, the difficult loses its edge and is trampled by your progress.” - Steve Maraboli
