WHAT WE KNOW RIGHT NOW, June 12th: We spoke with our contact at the Riverpark in Chattanooga. All events through the end of JUNE have been cancelled. THEY do not know if events in July will be cancelled. They have not received any guidance on anything past the end of June. WE are moving forward under the assumption that we will be permitted to have a race weekend UNTIL we are informed otherwise by the park. We have hand sanitizer, we have the ability to spread out the aid station to 20 tables instead of three, we will be glad to cut up fruit ahead of time and pre-package it and eliminate the usual "loose" snacks and get them prepackaged as well, we can start the race in heats, we can send different distances in different directions because of how the course is set up. We are prepared to do whatever it takes to make it happen as safely as we possibly can. What we CANNOT guarantee is that the park will be allowing (or will be restricted by city, county, or state regulations that may or may not pop up or be rescinded in the next month) the event to occur. AS SOON AS WE HAVE A DEFINITIVE ANSWER ONE WAY OR ANOTHER, we will let everyone know. Sending an email asking isn't going to get you an answer different from what is posted. The only thing we can tell you with certainty right now is that we WILL hold the event if the park permits us to do so. Right now, they have NOT told us that we CANNOT have the event, but they have NOT told us that we absolutely WILL be allowed to hold the event. If you are uncomfortable with participating if the event is allowed to happen, we will be more than happy to give you a free deferral to next year, or a transfer to a future Awesomesauce race at the same distance, or you can participate as a virtual runner.
What's better than running by yourself? Running with a bunch of crazy fun people, that's what! Spend your Saturday morning and Sunday morning running or walking along the beautiful Tennessee River, with a bunch of the funnest people you've ever met.
The course is basically completely flat, on a paved path that meanders by the Chickamauga Dam, behind the campus of Chattanooga State, and alongside the Tennessee River, passing playgrounds and restrooms with toilets that flush. The new kids race covers 1/4 of a mile, around the grassy area by the start/finish line.
Yep, you read that right, toilets that flush and sinks with running water and soap. Is this a runner's dream or what?
You will pass the start/finish/aid station area multiple times throughout the race. This means you're welcome to leave a drop bag to access your own personal goodies and you can shed layers as you warm up. This is also a good place to reapply sunscreen, address any potential issues such as blisters, etc.
Both races are super low-key and non-competitive; we'd prefer to race you vs. you, not you vs. anyone else. There is a 4 hour time limit for all distances.
Your registration fee includes entry into the race distance of your choosing, race swag, finisher medal for all distances, and our usual aid station setup including Gatorade, water, Gu, and snacks and post-race food.
Shirts are NOT included in your race fee. We do give out race swag, it just won't be a shirt! As is tradition with this race, shirts, tank tops, hoodies, and other swag will be available for purchase during registration and on race day.
As with any other race put on by any other company, registration fees and add-on fees are final and are not refundable or transferable for any reason. Prices are subject to change. The races will go on rain, snow, or shine. If you will be running BOTH days, please use code BOTH to get $10 off your second day's registration. You'll only get one set of race swag items, as if you were running one race, but you'll get different medals for each day's race and a third medal for doing both! You can mix and match race distances using this option.
