About This Activity
Be The Match is proud to host the 2nd Annual Charleston Match to Marrow 5K. This 5K walk/run unites communities across the Lowcountry of South Carolina in support of helping patients in need of a marrow transplant. With your support as a race participant and through individual/team fundraising, you help more patients afford transplant, add potential new marrow donors to the Be The Match Registry®, and make more life-saving research possible. The Charleston Match to Marrow 5K Walk/Run event is suitable for people of all ages and fitness levels. Take the first step to saving lives and register for the 5K today! New for 2015- we will be offering a Kids 1K event. A MOMENT TO EXPERIENCE at the 2015 event- we will be hosting a donor/recipient meeting at the race. This meeting will bring together a marrow recipient from Charleston and his life saving donor for their very first meeting.

Plentiful parking is available in Wannamaker County Park. When arriving at the park, advise the guard house that you are participating in the Charleston Match to Marrow event.
Other Important Dates and Times:
Day of race registration is available Packet pick up is at Wannamaker County Park on the morning of the race starting at 7:30 a.m. Race shirts guaranteed with all 5K registrations prior to 3/13/2015 deadline.
Early registration ($25) ends on March 13, 2015After March 13, the registration fee is $30. Day of race registration is $35
Each registered team will have a team photo taken prior to the start of the race to commerate your participation in the fight against blood cancers. Team awards will be given in the following categories- 1. Most team spirit (awarded based on costumes, props, team name, enthusiasm, etc...)
2. Fastest team (the fastest chip times on your team will be recorded and averaged to determine winner - you must have 5 teams members to be eligible)
3. Teams with the most funds raised per team member (based on the amount of funds raised compared to number of team members. we will look at the ratio not overall total in category)
4. Teams with the most funds raised overall (based on the amount of funds raised by 8 a.m. on March 21, 2015)
5. Team with the most number of registered participants (based on the number of registered and paid members by March 13, 2015)
Charleston Match to Marrow 5K is chip timed. Awards for the top 3 males and females in each age group will be given. Overall winners are not eligible for age group awards.
Top male and female running participants will be recognized and receive awards 1st place, 2nd place and 3rd place in the following age divisions: 9 and under
