Hello! My name is Arianna and I am a seventh grader. Chances are, everyone that reads this letter has been affected by cancer in one way or another. I lost my loving Pappy to cancer this past year and I was helpless to stop it. Many of my family members have had cancer: my Grandma had a precancerous polyp, my cousin had cancer in his eye, and my Pappy had stage four colon cancer. He took chemotherapy for quite a while and kept on fighting it. He ended up surviving over a year when he only was given three months to live. Unfortunately, last August he passed away. I felt horrible and sad. Not just for him but for all those with cancer, so many of my friends’ family members have been diagnosed with cancer as well. I wanted to help others with cancer so they could have a longer time on earth just like my Pappy.
That's why I came up with the idea of a race to raise money for cancer research. I got this idea because I love to run and I know many other people do as well. I am asking for your help! Let’s make a difference in finding a cure, improving medications and supporting the quality of life for those in the most important battle of their lives. Please join us for “The Pappy Run” benefiting University Hospitals Seidman Cancer Center to be held in Bainbridge, Ohio on March 29, 2014. We hope to have 500 race participants in this first year!
