About This Activity
So what is a Fitathlon? You’ve heard of a triathlon – Run, Bike and Swim. You’ve heard of a decathlon – 10 track and field events. Welcome to a new sport called Fitathlon. A Fitathlon is a fitness challenge that tests your strength, endurance, athleticism and mental toughness. Fitahlon’s challenges have 15-20 obstacles that take place over a 5k or 10k distance. The obstacles include but are not limited to: Transverse Walls, 5 Foot Walls, Cargo Nets, Tire Flips, Calisthenics and many more!
Fitathlons are for everyone – Beginners, who are looking to have fun and enjoy the obstacles and serious athletes, looking to capture the purse. We divide the participants up so you participate with other fitathletes who share similar goals. It doesn’t matter if you’re a newbie, beginner, challenger, or competitor you’re bound to have a great experience and be challenged like never before. A fitathlon is not a Tough Mudder or Spartan Race or any other event that includes mud, fire, water or electrocution!!!! None of that stuff. While we do have similar obstacles the comparison ends there. Your heart rate will get up and stay up the entire race. Your legs will feel like jello and you will be exhausted when you finish but you’ll be thrilled with your accomplishment. There are limited lines and minimal waiting. Our events are local and community based. We donate a portion of the proceeds from each event to a local charity and attempt to use local business for support services whenever possible. We are a green company that is socially responsible.
Here are the participation levels:
Newbie - I’ve never really done anything like this. I’m doing this for entertainment and really don’t care about my finish time. I just want to challenge myself and have a good time with my friends and the other competitors.
Beginner - I’m not serious about competing but enjoy a challenge. Obstacle races are new to me but seem like something I’d enjoy. I work out on a regular basis but I’m not as serious as some of the people in the gym. I’ve taken boot camp classes.
Challenger - I’m in good shape. I like a challenge. I exercise on a regular basis and I consider myself fit. I can run a 5k and I lift weights regularly. I enjoy boot camp classes.
Competitor - I’m in great shape and I plan to complete the entire course without walking. I have completed other obstacle type events (Tough Mudder, Spartan Race, Rugged Maniac) and have done well. Bring it on. I’m up for the challenge. Show me the money!
Super Competitor (Limited to 100 participants) - You’re the fittest of the fit. You train hard. You look at fitness as your job not just some fun activity. You’re willing to push your body to the limits and then some. Quit is not in your vocabulary. You want to compete for the $$$. There is a $10 additional fee for this level which goes towards the prize money. The top 3 female and male finishers in this category receive cash prizes. The fastest Male and Female finisher will be crowned – The Fittest Male/Female in Connecticut
Kids Course - The kids course is for kids ages 6 to 12. The kids course it not intended as a competitive race, only as a challenge. Our goal is to promote fun activities and family fitness. The kids course is about a ½ - 1mile long. There are walls, cargo nets, balance beams, etc. It is similar to the adult obstacles just kid size and kid friendly. You can complete the course with your child or they can do it by themselves. There will be someone at the obstacles to help them if necessary. If they do not want to complete an obstacle they can skip it.
Middle/High School - Middle and High School students will complete the Fitathlon Challenge course at the Beginner and Challenger level respectively. The big tire obstacle will be eliminated for Middle School students. The fastest High School finisher will be crowned – The Fittest High Schooler in “____”_

Transfer/Registration guidelines: Registration will be open until 1 week before the event. There will also be same day registration avaliable. If you are unable to participate, you can transfer your registration for a $10.00 fee. The last day to edit or transfer your registration is 1 week before the event.
