Plunge Pedal Plod has been Fit & Able's signature annual event since 1997 and we are glad to be back again as a splash & dash! Whether you're new to the sport or a seasoned veteran you will find a course for you! As always, you can race individually or as a relay team.

Plunge & Plod is part of Fit & Able's Free-for-All race series.


Sunday June 9th

  • 7:00 - 8:00 AM Check-in & Packet Pick-up at TAC
  • 8:30 AM Staggered Race Start
    * Course will stay open until last athlete is finished.


Race Location: Taylor Family YMCA and Cary Greenways. Race registration and refreshments are located in the patio area. The transition area will be in the YMCA parking lot.

Events: Everyone is welcome to participate! This is event has both competitive and recreational categories. Competitive participants will have chip-timed results that will be posted online.  All Fit & Able Productions, Inc. events are inclusion events: anyone of any age, skill-level, or ability can participate in any race!  All athletes will get event participation ribbons.

Course: The swim is in the YMCA's 25yd pool and the run is on the paved greenways. Course is measured with a calibrated wheel but not USAT certified.

Athletic Trainer: First aid will be located near the transition area and finish line.

Water Stations: There will be two water stations on the course: one by the transition area at the run start and one at the turn around point for the 1 Mile run. Water is also available at the registration and refreshment area. The water stations are marked on the map.

Event Souvenirs: Plunge & Plod t-shirts are included with your registration fee. Please provide your desired shirt size when you register online. There is no guarantee of getting an event t-shirt if registering after May 20th.  Participants will get their shirts at the finish line after returning their chips.

Awards: Prizes will be awarded to the Top 3 Overall Male/Female winners and Top Relay Team in each race. Awards are sponsored by Omega Sports (Crossroads Plaza).

Packet Pick-up: All participants must show a photo ID (18 & over) or be with a guardian with a photo ID (17 & under) in order to pick up their race packets. All participants must pick up their own race packet (including relay team members). USAT members must provide their USAT membership number. Athletes who are not USA Triathlon Members must purchase a one day USAT membership. Early packet pickup will be announced race week.


Online registration closes on June 8th at 9 PM. Cash, checks, and credit cards are accepted at packet pick-up and race day.

Splash & Dash Individual & Relay Team: Shirt included with registration.

  • Until April 14th: $35 per Individual and $65 per Relay Team
  • Until May 12th: $40 per Individual and $70 per Relay Team
  • Until June 8th: $45 per Individual and $75 per Relay Team
  • On Race Day June 9th: $55 per Individual and $85 per Relay Team

USAT Membership:

  • 17 & Under Annual: $10
  • 18 & Over Annual: $50
  • 18 & Over One-day: $15
